Cross Eugenics
« on: May 17, 2011, 12:50:14 pm »
Quote from: SchalaKid
I have been waiting an eternity...
   just for this very moment...~
[...]
       The words
           that become deleted...
       The thoughts
           that become buried...
       The pool of cells
           that slowly evaporate...
       The echoes of consciousness
           that slowly fade...
[...]
The '"eggs"' that we call planets...
   And the innumerable '"spermatozoa"'
   which gather around these
   that we call life-forms...

When one of those countless seeds
   inseminates a planet,
   a new universe is born.
[...]
That is the be-all and end-all.
Everything exists for that one moment.
All so that the universe can evolve
   into the next dimension...

Does that make us all just pawns?
Are each of our short lives
   nothing but a cheap sacrifice
just so the one chosen life-form
   can be born?

No. That is not the case!
Each and every one of us
   has a chance of becoming
   that one chosen life-form
   which inseminates a planet.
   Yes, it could be '"you"'...
[...]
   Serge...!
   Don't go yet, Serge...!!!
   It's alright.
   Everything is alright now.
[...]
The time for farewells has come...
You will lose all memory of
   this whole adventure
and return to your own time.

But this time, you will be able
   to live your own life!
[...]

   It was bloody good
   knowing ya, mate!
   Thanks for being born
   '"you,"' Serge!

I guess now's the time to say,
   '"see ya later, mate!"'
   But...

   I'll find ya...
   Sometime, somewhere...
   I'm bloody sure of it!

SO.

Is Kid some kind of Lavos/Schala hybrid looking to create the perfect being by mating with Serge?

The way I understanded it... this speech of Schala/Kid meant that the whole purpose of the human race is to eventually produce an individual able to create the ideal timeline, helping the planet (universe??) to advance into a next stage  "All so that the universe can evolve into the next dimension...". And that all the humans have the potential to be that individual.

To me it sounds like she's talking about Lavos. Inseminating the planet? Did they HAVE to use that word?

Yeah... I thought that at first, too... that she meant that Lavos was sort of a seminal force to the planet, but I'm not sure about that... and the fact that she keeps using a reproductive methaphor is... um....

It's quite an strange speech.

It is highly unlikely that she is referring to Lavos when she makes the sperm metaphor, since she refers to the countless life forms already on the planet as the potential fertilizers.  If Lavos were to fit into the metaphor at all, he would be a snake that eats eggs.

The speech is interesting, because it is hard to tell how literal the speech is.  It is also interesting because after all that Serge and the rest of the Chrono crew did, NONE of them were named as the "one chosen life form which inseminates [the] planet."  It merely said that Serge MIGHT be the one, at some point in the future.  How much more legendary would this inseminator need to be?

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose reaction was, "Lavos = spermatozoa?"

Anyway, I wonder if the speech may not have lost something in translation... Would it be less of a loaded metaphor in Japanese?

(And I'm repressing the obvious "Sir Crono" joke...)

The Speech sounds like from God's viewpoint.

It is hard to tell how a person who has trapped in the Darkness beyond Time for over 10000 years would think -- it is sure beyond the darkness of psychology.

You know... Suddenly this whole speech started to sound to me like a great freudian metaphor for sperm competition...  :|

Tanaka :  Hurry, we have a revolutionary MMO do make and no budget is left for Chrono ! Pack everything into text like Xenogears CD2 !

Kato : Huh... I still have 5 hours of quests... There's the second war between the dragons and chronopolis, the flashback about Porre and the fate of Crono and Marle, the part when Guile reveal his identity, and..

Kato : Ok fine, I work on Vana'diel lore next week. I'll go to the tavern and figure out something for crunching Chrono...

Or IS she? The only ones who know what went on over those ten thousand years are Lavos and herself...
