It was bound to happen. I'm happy for the gay community, though! One of my best friends in the world is a lesbian and she and her long-time domestic partner have considered marriage in another state... Even though gay marriage isn't legal in TN (where we live), it's an important symbolic image for the gay community. Yay!

That's excellent.  I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping Kentucky will hurry up and legalize gay marriage so that my (transgendered) brother and his girlfriend of almost six years can tie the knot.

This whole affair was so epic -- getting the vote in seemed improbable, then it happened, then I saw calls for people in New York to ship out to Albany ASAP because Tea Partier types were staging a huge protest. But in the end, we won.

It's good to know some victories are very possible.

Saw this coming and glad it's here. Four state senate Republicans on board? Gravy. Time are changing and gay rights is a battle we're winning.

Sam's been super excited all day and told me that soon he wants to move out to New York. Alex is happy about it but isn't going crazy, and my crazy parents are saying that the day it happens here is the day we move. How's Fox been handling it?

They were the first state to ban smoking in public, weren't they? Now they're pro gay marriage.
Wow. I didn't think they had it in em! It's a step back in the right direction!

People should be able to do what they want as long as they're not harming other people (or their property). When law (and, let's face it, society) supports that claim, I'll be happy and proud of my country, but we still have a ways to go.

Either way, victory in a blue state!
