Ok so i've got an idea.
Say you want to keep an rank image and your about to rank up.
I think that you should be able to keep the rank image but you still change the name by ranking up.
You can change the image the same way that you change the forum image with but not the own image part.

Thats my idea.

In other words, each new rank opens up new rank icons that you can use? That would be great if the forums existed as some kind of game, but for a discussion based forum, that might encourage too much spamming instead of rewarding real discussion.

It'd be an interesting idea for a role-playing board or a very casual discussion board though.

Thanks well all i can say is i tried.That's weird you even made my idea make more sense to me 
But also about the very casual discussion board would you ever try it?
