Cool! What medium are you using? Looks like watercolor.

Neat idea for those barnacles - take a toothbrush and put black watercolor on the bristles, then flick the bristles at the paper with your thumb. do it on something else to see how it looks before doing it to your main piece, so you know what to expect.

Keep posting progress on this! It's cool.

Thanks! It's actually oil paint. Been using that since my first art class started in the fall, so I'm trying to improve. I also don't want this to be identical to the original. The idea is to have more grass covering the cliff, and maybe add flowers around the tomb. That's a neat idea for the barnacles though. I wonder if I can do the same using oil.

Update: Blended more darks into the cliff, etched in the more of the structure, and added an orange base for those barnacles.

some good shit. work on blending your colors in clouds/sky, otherwise the one's you've got are already awesome. makes me want to paint more.

The Cape is missing the figure of Queen Zeal standing at the edge Lion King style, holding a baby lavos in her hands towards the sun.

I love watching budding artists!

The toothbrush technique works best with denser colors such as poster paints and acrylic; with oil, it has a tendency to smudge a bit (at least from how I tried it, but depending on the brand you might have different results). Although you can use a thinner, round-brush to draw the barnacles manually if required.

I'm looking forward to how this goes! Will you be using hue-mixing techniques for the grass?

Hey, still working on it? Not sure if I should add it to the fan art update unless you're at the point of satisfaction.

Yeah, still working. I'm very close to being finished though. I'll have it done in a day or two.

The clouds are untouched, but I like how it is now. So I'll leave it as it is. If I ever add more to it, I'll update here.

Update: More color blending.

Some part of me just doesn't want to touch those clouds.

Good question. I'd say ... 15-20 hours? I should keep track of that. :?
