Chrono Trigger: The Missing Things
« on: July 29, 2012, 02:43:47 am »
So have you ever had something that you thought should've been in Chrono Trigger, but strangely it wasn't?

I've had those moments.  In particular:

Remember defeating Ozzie and having rumors swirl about running a ferry between Truce and Medina? It made me rather sad to find out that this wasn't possible.  I scoured the map trying to find out it was, but alas my search was in vain.

Remember seeing the Frog King being defeated by Cyrus in Glenn's flashback in the Cursed Woods?  Who can say that they didn't want him to later pop up as a side-quest boss? I did and was rather saddened when I came to find you couldn't later tussle with him.

My number 1 wish was to either save/acquire on your team Princess Schala Zeal. :(

Any of you that have these types of thoughts?  Let me know! I don't think I'm the only one haha....at least I hope not.

I've seen you elsewhere, so I know what this is about already. I generally don't think you can frame this in a way that's still legal here.

Actually I'm just asking a general question, so yes what I'm doing is entirely legal. Freedom of speech anyone? What it may be about or not is entirely inconsequential. I'm not here to discuss the legalities of anything, I'm just curious.

I remember when I was in 3rd grade I saw an issue of Game Informer or Nintendo Power or something with fan art of Crono and Goku in Super Saiyan form, with his blonde hair looking extremely similar to Crono's red hair. They were drawn as if they were posing for a camera and hanging out, with smiles on their faces, eyes lit up, and an arm around each other's necks. The title was simple but the source of a lot of confusion for me at the time: "Chrono and Trigger". I had never seen DBZ before, nor had I been able to complete Chrono Trigger. So I powered through the rest of the game, determined to find this "secret" playable character I had partially invented in my head but was absolutely SURE existed because this person drew it, Crono's blonde brother or father, named "Trigger". Of course this character doesn't actually exist, I never found the issue of the gaming magazine it was in ever again, I liked what CT offered better than the crap story I thought it was going to end up being, I found DBZ around 6th or 7th grade and my mind was forever blown. The end.

I wish I would've seen that picture haha.  Sounds like it was rather cool.  I can see where that would be a cause for confusion being so young at the time and both being drawn by Toriyama.  I remember discovering DBZ around the same grade! I'd stay up late watching it on Toonami. The first thing of it I saw was the movie The Tree of Might.

Now that I think about it this thread can be a nostalgia/memory thread as well! I have so many fond memories playing Chrono Trigger when I was younger that it's ridiculous. Ah the countless hours spent on those warm summer nights.  Good times.  :(

At any rate through my many playthru's I remember every single time trying to scour the map trying to find things I may have missed in my previous times.  It may have been fruitless for the most part, but it was so much fun!

But you're in Kajar Laboratories, which implies you're planning a fan project. Of course, there are many sorts of (still allowed) fan projects.

True enough. I'm just seeking inspiration.  :D

I haven't committed myself fully to any projects yet, however I have some ideas. As I said, however it's inconsequential to my current seeking of knowledge. Honestly if anything I'd like to write up a storyboard of sorts.  8)
