Grim/dark CT fanfic I found

Crono Returns is an interesting fanfiction of Chrono Trigger I found that disregards Cross as being a "what-if" type sequel. Though it's amazing, chapter 6 left me stunned as it gets pretty dark and grim by then.

I must warn you this fanfic does have material such a (non-graphic) occurence of rape as well as miscarriages and the slaying of children.
