so if im posting this in the wrong place im sorry 

this is the first time i m playing chrono trigger on teh ds  i really like the storie but i am wondering some things about teh dream devourer

1. ya i play chrono cross first, b4 chrono trigger    i thought it was time devourer??? could sum1 plz clarify ty 

2. is magus guile?  i am not sure on this 1 but it seems likely 2 me

3. when u figth lavos in teh ocean palace it showz lavos eruptin in 12,000 Bc so does that mean u r fighting lavos in 12,000 bc instead of 1999 AD????   

4. did crono n marle die when guardia got invded by porre?  also wat was that about dalton starting teh army?  that jus seeme so forced idk

Hey, I also played Cross before Trigger! Totally changes the perspective, I think

1) The Dream Devourer is meant to be an intermediate step in the evolution to the Time Devourer, aptly named because it feeds on dreams instead of, well, time.

2) CT:DS seems to have retconned Guile being his own character, so yes, he is Magus (with amnesia).

3) If I remember correctly, after fighting Queen Zeal the Black Omen becomes a portal to Lavos, where the real fight then begins. Though I could be wrong on this.

4) It is suggested, but not stated. There are reasons for and against both arguments. Dalton is the reason behind Porre's sudden rise to power in Chrono Cross.

Yeah, some of it does seemed forced. Probably because, just as Cross tried to add throwbacks to Trigger, CT:DS tried to add throwbacks to Cross. It does tie the two games together more. However, simply telling us so-and-so happened is bad story telling.

It actually doesn't matter when you fight Lavos to have the goal consistent. The Black Omen officially exists Out of Time, and if you affect it in the future it will remain affected in he past (compared to normal time-stream, which is one-dimensional, where changing past affects the future but not the other way).

In other words, no matter which era you choose to fight the Black Omen, you'll end up at the same place and same time.

Also I wanted to point out that you can destroy the Omen 3 different times, presuming you tackle it first in 1000 AD and work your way down to to 12,000 BC.
