OK, I need to announce that for now, we are stopping production on the Flash series.
First of all, no, there's not a C&D letter. However, this has been slow going and I'll need to plan more to actually get this off the ground. There's been somewhat of a lack of enthusiasm from a couple of people on my team (though others have MORE than made up for it!), but the real reason I'm stopping production for the moment is because I've been chosen as director for Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes.
As you may have noticed, there are two directors: Exodus, in charge of the technical supervision of hackers and so on. And me. I'll be actually directing the public image of the game and the overall look and feel of CE in-game. This is personally huge for me because, as some of you know, I am a writer... I started writing about 10 years ago...when I first discovered Chrono Trigger. Its story inspired me, along with the multiple endings...which got me thinking "what if this happened instead of this?" So I started doing my own little CT Novelization Project, writing the story of CT with the small, personal changes I would have added. Essentially, it's what got me started writing. It's what first fired up my imagination into writing-mode.
Now, I actually have the chance to see my own vision of CT (although in a new story) enacted in-game. This is an opportunity I certainly don't want to pass up, and the new story is something I have to say is truly worthy of the Chrono series. It's spectacular. Seeing as ZeaLitY has said that this is "our vision of Chrono Break," it's like being asked to direct Chrono Break... So it really feels like an enormous honor, privilege, and responsibility.
Between real life, and the CT Remake Petition, and the CT Flash Series, and Crimson Echoes, I had to drop something to be able to focus more on Crimson Echoes. While I might be able to step back from the spotlight in the remake petition in the next month or two, right now I'm still very much needed to get that campaign off the ground.
