I find it funny that with the exception of Bike Race, those are some of my least listened to tracks on the OSV.

Same here, except replace Bike race with Tryano Castle.

It seems like one of two things hapenned.  One, since it was a different game from final Fantasy, he tried to make a different style and (IMO) failed at it... or at least didn't do as good a job as Y. Mitsuda.   Or, two, he figured "well, I only gotta make x number of tracks for the game, shouldn't bother trying too hard at them."

Uh, actually, I'm fairly sure that it was just that Uematsu just came in to help out Mitsuda on some of the lesser tracks...The core of CT's music is and always will be Yasunori.

Well, yeah. He didn't try to steal glory, he tried to help out, I'm sure. It's just like Beethoven dosen't sound like Mochart. Uematsu just seemed, to, well, not get into the feeling of the game that much.
