Lavos Theory
« on: July 30, 2005, 10:47:55 pm »
As i was playing through the game and my party was Crono, Marle, and Robo

i defeated the first form of lavos and Robo says:
"Amazing...It houses all the DNA of every creature that ever lived...!"

then after beating the second form of him he says:
"This was Lavos's goal...!  Using the DNA of every organism and achieving the ultimate in evolution!"

around this website there are theorys sayin that Lavos is a parasite and/or a intelligent being.  i think these quotes give proof that it is both of them.  and that maybe it was just using the human race to become this "ultimate in evolution,"  which would make it both a parasite cause it was taking the DNA and a intelligent being because it knew what it was doing when it was using the DNA to become the ultimate evolution.

Yeah, Lucca, Marle, Magus, Ayla, Robo all say a quote similar, depending in which slot they are standing.

Good pick up. Though most of us came to that conclusion already :P

I don't think that's necessarily true. Housing that DNA and all could just be part of it's nature. Each Lavos (or Lavoid if you must) goes to a planet and repeats this spawning process which requires the manipulation of DNA. I still don't know if I'd say Lavos was entirely intelligent or completely knowing in what it was doing exactly.

Well think about it, Lavos has to determine what DNA is the best DNA to use for itself. One has to have some sort of intellegence to be able to determine what DNA would be the best. You couldn't base that entirely off of animal instinct.

But, like Robo says, Lavos houses the DNA of EVERY living thing. Who says it's choosing anything?

You know, V Translanka has a very good point. It might just be in its nature to go to a planet and just take it completely over taking all the DNA and natuarally using it to adapt (evolve) and become an ultimate being.

But beaner does have a point. Robo also says that "This was Lavos' goal" He must have had an idea of what he needed to do. Or maybe more, he had a plan. Also this coincides with when he pulls Chronopolis back in time. He had to know what he was doing to some extent.

So parasite, definitely. Intelligent being? Maybe mroe than what we give it credit for, but not a rocket scientist.

its like he just crashes into the planet suckin up every DNA it can get its hands on its not like getting rid of DNA its just sucking it up and storing it somewhere so maybe it doesnt have the intelligence

This isn't the only place his intelligence comes into play.  There's still the question of whether or not the events leading up to Chrono Cross were Lavos' doing as a failsafe for being killed by some random group of humans.

I would say that Lavos trying to absorb Schala is something of a show of intelligence.  Though it could also be interpreted as just trying to get anything it could for some energy.

Yeah, but Lavos' goal was simply to spawn. A completely natural response.

How does Robo know that though?

He scans him, I guess...

And, in reply to Beer Pope... He began abosrbing her unknowingly, but the more he absorbed of her, the more of her intellect splintered off to him making him smarter and smarter. Then there's the DG, the one thing the TD completly devoured. Why coulden't that make him, say, four times more intellegent then the brainless parasite he might of been?

I can imagine that Lavos started absorbing Schala sub-counciously because he needed a power source to keep him alive.

@Legend
It is understandable that Robo could scan them, but what about the other characters, they make statements in a way that it seemed like they knew all this all along.
