Something odd about Riddel
« on: August 09, 2005, 05:52:44 pm »
So, I've been playing RD. And I got to Esmeld, who had this intresting thing to say about Riddel:

Quote from: Esmeld
"Oh, you didn't know? Indeed, Miss Riddel's true father was General Viper."
"Anyhow, for the sake of harnessing the power of the Frozen Flame, Lord Lynx
abducted Miss Riddel, taking her as his own daughter. Within that strange
rock lies a strong mental connection to this particular Mistress...

I had a little chat with ZeaLitY about this, and like he said, the only mental connection between the Flame and a being is that of an Arbiter. ZeaLitY then wondered why she didn't wish Viper back and got rid of Lynx. My first thought was that it just isn't as simple as wishing, due to the Flame's own will.... What are your thoughts of this? Is Riddel an Arbiter, and if so, why didn't she use the Flame to escape Lynx?

Maybe you acctually have to be near it.... Serge couldn't wish crap whilst he was like outside of the room in Cronopolis.

Who says either of them would know how?  Maybe if the Arbiter was a powerful wizard like Magus, or someone skilled in magic, would be able to harness its power for something.

Intresting thought. Maybe the FF unlocks magic potential (He does seem to have all those "Chi" powers with Luminaire and Flying Arrow) and if one uses it...

Then there's Kid in RD. She is, in fact, Schala in RD. If Schala, too, is an Arbiter, then perhaps Kid using the Time Egg's magic caused Kid to wish something that took them to the Corridors of Time?

But this brings up a contradiction. The Frozen Flame in RD would have two Arbiters.

Hmm... Maybe the FF recognised it's old Arbiter, and re-registered Kid is the Arbiter, making Riddel useless? Or, the Time Egg just triggered the Flame, regardless of the Arbiter...

Does Riddel actually do something with the FF in RD, or is it just a random, lonely quote?

Random quote, unless it's in a scenario I haven't seen.

Maybe the FF just links to people with very sad feelings, like Schala upset about what she did to her kingdom and Riddel saddened by ''Dario'' (or Zolander or whatever his name is in RD)'s death?

So now Dario is her father?

Anyway... Could be. I just don't see why sad emotions...

By Dario I mean her boyfriend... mmh she has one in RD right (I've only played it once a long time ago)? If she doesn't, then her father's death could do it too.

I said sad emotions because that's the only link between Schala and Riddel that I can think of (well except if the FF just likes cute girls  ). The FF did grant Schala's dream of forgetting what she did and giving her a new, innocent life, so perhaps the key to having one's wish granted is a strong and sad emotion (Riddel surely would like to see her father revive).

Also, we shouldn't forget that the Arbiter stuff was something invented in CC. In RD the FF is just a non-living jewel.

Riddle's Boyfriend in RD was a guy who got turned into a goblin.
