Those weren't Gates but just temporary portals. Gates are opened by Gate Keys.

Ah, I didn't understand what you meant at first.  But now I get it.  When I first heard the gaia theory and that the planet/entity creates all gates I was confused how Lavos could have any effect on time.  But it makes a lot of sense now that I think of it.  The gates are the entity's memories and other things liek the portals and the gate at Magus' castle were from Lavos power.  I don't know why i just assumed Lavos had no efect of time whatsoever when I heard this theory.

True true. But who creates the Gates? The Entity! Before you can open the Gate, someone must have created it.

And really, there are multiple entities. You can count Lavos as one, the TD as another, and even Belthesar in CC if u wanna go reeeeaaal in depth.

Yes, it's this meaning that we should technically use. The entity's name in Chrono Trigger was just a common noun (because it was translated from the Japanese for "someone") not a proper name (it's "entity" not "Entity"). Apparently it was obvious enough in that Japanese version that this someone was Mother Earth.

Yeah, but didnt it say in  the game, "Entity" with a capital? I was pretty sure it does. The capital makes it same much more important. Even the whole "The Entity" make it seem like some random powerful-being that is far from a normal entity/lifeform.

Arg, you're right I've just checked the script. "entity" is in fact only used once by Robo the first time he refers to it.

Then the red gate in the forest isn't a gate? Nah, they are all gates, just the black ones are temporary.
