That would be Ankoku, which I think transaltes to Pitch-black.  You use some of Cecil's HP, and he shoots out black-lightning against the enemies.

Whatever it translates to, that's close enough.

And it's also the only way that you would know (without the manual) in the "paladin trial" to just defend and do nothing.  You would KNOW that the attack the DK uses drains its own health, therefore you should KNOW that just sitting there it will kill itself.
