Possible Masamune Kidnapper

Hi, I've been reading these forums for while.

Anyway, I've been reviewing the special ending to the PSX Chrono Trigger, and I noticed something about the shadows...If you look closely at the attacker's shadow...you can see he's holding a staff(you'll have to pause and rewind MANY times till you see it) look even closer and you'll see a curve at the end...coud it be a scythe? Plus! When he turns and walks away, you can see that he has long flowy hair!!! I think it's Magus!!!

It's very hard to see with it being in darkness,if you have quicktime you'll have to rewind it and play so you can constantly keep an eye on his weapon weapon.

*Edit* It appears he's also holding the Masamune in one hand, with his scythe in the other.

Alright I'll give a play-by-play.

They both walk into the room, The kidnapper attacks with the masamune in one hand, and his scythe in the other. He attacks with the masamune, the guard blocks and tries to attack. The kidnapper parries with the masamune and slices the guard in half with his scythe. The guard falls to the floor, and the kidnapper turns around with his hair whipping in the air, and walks off-screen.

The attacker is using a two-handed sword.  Its impossible for him to switch like that.  I think what your seeing is either hair, or the slash of his sword.

There was a joke thread like this a while ago. The prankster had a freezeframe of the shot where there is a stream of blood coming from the defeated guard. The siloute is roughly shaped like a scythe. It wasn't though, just a trick of the shadows.

Bingo. The stream of blood forms the curve of a scythe, while the vertical shadows form what seems to be a staff. In the other frames, he's clearly holding a sword, however.

Also his long hair are too spiky to be Magus's.

It's not an inconvenience at all. Our forum is open for all Chrono series discussion. Keep posting, and don't get discouraged by this one thing having been discussed before.

Thing is though, why did Square bother putting a character in when they were gonna have no need for him in future games. You think they couldve included him in CC.

Is he just supposed to remain an enigma forever?

I have a hunch that this was something for CB.  This cutscene was made AFTER they made CC.

No, they made it before. In Japan, the PSX version of CT was released before CC. In North America it's different, but irrelevant.

I agree it was purposely left open for another story though. Kato probably just wanted to make a game without Crono and the gang, so he just discarded them without explanation.

Ah, like they planned to do a game that had something to do with the Fall of Guardia and the Masamune? (Chrono Sword   ) But obviously they decided not to and created CC, they then said that the Fall of Guardia was the fault of Porre and not the Masamune. Interesting, very interesting.

So if that whole video sequence was something for CB, then does that mean that Kid had a whole new role in the storyline?
