I heard this is a brand new game that is "a love letter to chrono trigger". Has anyone played it? If so, is there any truth to it and do you recomend it for chrono fans who aren't usually big RPG players?

I haven't played it yet but it's on my wishlist. However, reviews seem to indicate that the battle system is as close as the game gets to Chrono Trigger. From the preview videos, it looks like the battles are lifted right out of CT except you can power up your techniques by letting your ATB gauge continue to fill even after your turn is ready. Depending on how well this is implemented I could imagine it either adding some strategic depth or coming off as needlessly gimmicky.

This is all just guesswork on my part, though. Hopefully someone who has actually played the game will chime in.

Did anyone end up playing the game and have any opinions of it? I've contemplated playing it but haven't had time. It's been discussed as being a spiritual successor but I haven't heard anything solid either way.

I played it. I loved the music. The game was good and reminded me of playing Chrono Trigger. Was a little short. Been meaning to give it a second play through. I'd recommend playing it.
