Sorry, no joy on my end. But if I know what song in particular, I don't mind trying to help Google-fu some sheet music.
I also realized that I had never responded to the other comment you had made! My bad!
I went digging, and found the recording I was talking about, it's called "Prologue ~ Summer Nights"
https://connorhelms.bandcamp.com/album/radical-dreamers-15th-anniversary-remake/If you could help me hunt down some sheet music, that would be awesome!
In all honesty, I had no idea how successful VGmix albums really are, but if I can help in any way (Reddit post), I will gladly do so. I also feel like the Compendium has sort of adopted you and your album moreso than we traditionally do, so I think the mods can even leverage a front page news post and stuff. It's obviously not huge, but it is a show of support. Outside of Reddit, I have no idea where I'd even go to help advertise.
That would be amazing! It's incredibly humbling to hear and see all the support from you guys! If the community truly would be open to promoting my project, it would be an honor!
Anything you can do would be a huge help! I know there are several sub Reddits dedicated to remixes, covers, etc. Maybe when the time comes we can combine efforts to get the word out! The more people we can get talking about it, the better!
There are also a few VG remix sites like OC remix that it might be beneficial to reach out to them. I'll also be flooding all of the Facebook groups dedicated to music and to Final Fantasy/Cross to see what I can drum up!
I had actually already heard this LOOOOONG before you posted. A while back I had seen it on your Instagram and Soundcloud and, as a Final Fantasy fan (especially the XII and before era; I have yet to play Lightning Returns or anything released after it), I loved it. I listened to it again just now for the kicks and giggles.
And hot damn, you fit in a lot in that <5:00 track! Fanfares galore, with plenty mixed in. It was fun picking out the parts I know. Hearing this again, I have to agree that advertising is probably your weak point. Because your work is pure gold.
I'm really glad you enjoyed this one! I feel like this piece was done a great disservice, since I wrote it for that FF30th contest, and then was never able to submit it, so it never really found an audience. I was really proud of how it turned out, so I like to promote it here and there when I can!
It does pack a lot in there! haha My goal was to represent each game through X with the prelude being the common link between them all. Some of the references are pretty obscure, I'm not sure anyone will pick out IX's reference without me pointing it out. haha Thank you though, I know I say it a lot, but seeing people in enjoy my arrangements, and hearing the feedback is truly what motivates me to keep making them!
In all seriousness, are you a musician in some capacity as your day job? Do you do much composing of original pieces?
I am! I got my degree in vocal performance (opera and classical singing) and perform regularly in different choirs often accompanied by orchestras. I studied orchestration and composing privately with the conductor of my university choir, who is also a very accomplished arranger, composer and conductor.
I've been very fortunate to have produced a couple albums with an orchestra and choir/solo singers comprised of my own arrangements. I also write and arrange regularly for professional orchestras and choirs around the USA. All that being said, the starving artist stereotype is pretty accurate...so I started a publishing company last year to help sell my own sheet music, as well as provide professional services to other composers.
I do write my own music, though with Cross Symphonic and some of my other projects it's been a little while since my last original piece. I actually am in talks with someone about composing a 50 min original score for a ballet this winter! I've always been a huge fan of film and video game music, so ultimately I've been pushing to break into that world. I entered a film scoring competition in 2016 and placed 10th in the world, 1st in the USA (out of those that entered that year.)
Here's a link to one of the pieces I wrote for that. I actually drew some of my inspiration from some of Mitsuda's later work for this piece!
