I suppose what is needed might depend on the setting itself.

Personally, I wouldn't actually mind if we have an scenario that doesn't involve time travel, or dimensional travel, or something

I agree. Chrono Cross was confined to a small archipelago and the setting was great. Same with Radical Dreamers, as you stated.

I feel like there are multiple story options we could take...

1.) The events of Chronopolis and the Time Crash, including the Polis War, as seen from those present.
2.) Some new city from the Future cut off from time and space with a mystery to solve.
3.) A giant ship in the far future with various biomes (think Metroid Fusion's space station), thousands of individuals in cryo suspension. Things go awry, people start awakening and the our party wakes up long after some other have awoken -- by the time the party wakes up, the factions have formed. Mystery ensues.
4.) Events in the fall of Guardia as seen by those present.

And that's just off the top of my head.

As far as ideas go, one thing I would like seeing is a proper Porre vs El Nido war. Without stuff like the Acacia Dragoons getting screwed royally by Lynx (and Serge), leaving El Nido with less opposition to face Porre.

Plugging this back in before I call it a night in case we can use some old ideas.

Also, as much as I love the idea of a role play with time travel (or dimension hopping), the actual implementation sounds pretty difficult. A singular setting, like Acacia Sgt suggested, within the Chronoverse may be best.

I'd be tempted to do time travel anyway, even if it is a complicated thought process every time a player does something. It will get messy.... I still want to do it. This is a bad idea. I really shouldn't.

To me, the core of Chrono Trigger (and Cross) is time travel. Not saying that we have to have it, but if we don't it would be a damn shame. If not, dimensional travel or multi-verse or something. Something involving space-time more than ZEAL from another universe hellbent on subjugation.

That's like having Star Trek without any space ships.

Just my two cents, anyway. It would have to be heavily plotted out beforehand.

Perhaps instead of having the players time traveling and dimension hopping all willy silly (since that could get really confusing), what if instead we had set real life time periods to transition settings within the roleplay? For instance, every 1st of the month (or two/three months), the setting is forcibly changed to a new time era.

It would require a plausible reason as to why the players have to occasionally time travel, but that could be a good driving point to keeping the story fresh if we iron that our.

Maybe it can be included, but still kept in a small capacity.

Anyway, as I mentioned, it was just a suggestion to start with something RD-like. But if interest is to go grand like CT or CC, let's go with it.

I love the idea of going with the scenario of the fall of Guardia!
