Racing Johnny without Crono

This just popped into mind, but as far as I know, the Jet Bike only has Crono sprited into it, and I've never really raced Johnny all that much.

Will Johnny accept a race from you if Crono is not present? What if you're between Zeal and Death Peak? Does Crono's sprite still appear in it?

If Crono is not in your current party, the Jet Bike will not activate and Johnny will say this:
