It seems so bizarre to be PS5 only. CC may be my favorite JRPG of all time...but it hardly seems like the type of game that would get money-hatted by Sony or be such a massive remake that it could only run on the PS5...

I dunno, I am pretty confident in the rumors of a CC remaster at this point.

But I'm also being careful about what I do and don't believe. There's too much info in the air and unconfirmed, so I'll just wait for it the official news to get here. Not much we can do until then.

Mitsuda mentioned that he will make some announcements starting next month at the earliest, which may or may not be related to the remaster/remake.

Translation: "Thank you so much to everybody for the birthday wishes. I am sorry I cannot reply each of you individually. My gratitude will be repaid properly through my work. I will (with luck) make the first announcement next month at the earliest, so look forward to it!!"

This has been making the rounds on reddit, too.

At this point I'm convinced the remaster is real and is really happening. I'm thinking HD remaster with limited or no new content (a la the recent Legend of Mana remaster). I would bet it will include a re-recorded soundtrack, though, which is awesome. Likely mid to late 2022 release.

I'm not counting anything as gospel, though, and will keep my expectations tempered.

It's me!  Back from the dead and late to the game...

I've been really interested in all of these rumors.  I find it odd that they keep wafting back and forth from remake to remaster.  I think I've made my position clear on remakes around here...but for the sake of conversation, I hope it's a remaster with new soundtrack, like Boo said.

I've been playing the FF Pixel remasters, and that's exactly the kind of treatment I would love to see for Cross.  As for the multiplatform thing...SE has been really big on only supporting Sony this generation, which is both odd and depressing for me, as I am not a huge fan of the PS5 and ended up on a Series X.  I really dislike PC gaming, but I suppose if that's the only way to enjoy a Cross remaster then so be it. I would hope that even if the stiff Xbox that they would support the Switch.

Lowkey disappointed it's just a remaster though...and the quality of some of those upscaled backgrounds was a bit disheartening...
