Where is Lavos after 1999 AD?

What about the mutants? they must be surviving on SOMETHING. In order for them to survive, to get the appropriate minerals to live, etc. is by having some plants or fungi or something to eat. When the mutants die they are eaten, so to speak, by the plants, and so on. For the planet to be totaly dead, all the nutrients, minerals, and warmth would have had to have gone and any weather patterns would have had to have gone. Indeed, lavos would have had to have stopped the planet orbiting the sun and spinning. Unless lavos has giant gyroscopes and retrorockets on the surface, its pretty unachievable.
300 years is a long time to survive with nothing to live off by anyone's standards, even if they are mutants.

Perhaps in 2300 AD the Earth is not totally 'dead' yet, and Lavos is still draining its energy? If that's true, then it's entirely plausible that when it's done with the planet, Lavos uses extra energy to, I don't know, explode the planet and launch itself out into space to find another planet?
...
Shutting up now.

Naw. The Planet is dead. The only reason there's any life at all (humans) is because of their technology. Lavos also doesn't want to move on to another planet because that would disrupt it's life cycle. It's CHILDREN are supposed to go to other planets, and it can be assumed that Lavos is a species that passes on genetic material, then dies.

As we see with Lavos' thoughts to end all life in the universe, I'd rather think that Lavos would grow stronger then fly away again. Lavos gained all that energy from the planet itself. Then it gained all the genetic information from anyone who has ever existed. The genetics are passed down, but Lavos would still keep some energy. I mean really, if you're so strong and can destroy planets, i'd think you'd want to live after your big achievement and kill more and rule the universe. Otherwise being immortal is kind of pointless.

The Ice Age hardly lasted for millions of years.  There's no in-game evidence to suggest that it did; all we know for a fact is that the Earth is undergoing an Ice Age in the time of Zeal.  Considering the low likelihood of such a phenomenon occurring, it's best to say that it didn't happen in Chrono.  This isn't too terribly relevant to Lavos, though.  Not only that, the Snowball Earth hypothesis covers completely different geological eras than the ones present in Chrono Trigger.

Good point, but Mars and Venus circle the sun and they're not "alive." and as for the Mutants, they could prey on humans and each other. Assuming they're even alive and not artificial constructs like the Realians from Xenosaga.

Ok, since when was Lavos' goal to destroy the universe? That's just your interpretation of him. Lavos just wants to reproduce. If worlds have to die, so be it. It's not that he actively seeks the destruction of Earth, but is doing so to make a breeding ground for his children, and THEY will go on to repeat the cycle. Lavos probably can't survive another planet's lifetime, and even if he could I doubt he'd be able to reproduce again. As for immortality and ruling the universe, Lavos doesn't care about either of those. What's he going to do with a lifeless Universe? Really? And he's not immortal. He just lives a really....really....really long time.

It was stated in CC how Lavos wished only to destroy all life in the universe, hence be the TD. Schala on the other hand wanted to save the universe and be saved herself, and half of her mind was being poisoned by Lavos' thoughts, and that's why she sent out Kid with her good half.

Not exactly.
Quote from: Lucca ghost
  Schala and Lavos became unified
   into one even more powerful
   entity that would evolve into
   the Devourer of Time.
   Filled with the hatred and
   sadness of Lavos, half of
   Schala's mind became set on
   destroying all of existence.
Yet at the same time, the
   other half of her mind
   desired to save the universe
   and to be rescued herself.

It is stated that because of Lavos' sadness, Schala wished to destroy the universe, while wishing to save it at the same time. Lavos is pretty much dead at that point so he can't really wish anything.

But likely it was his initial wish. Why he would wish that is a sad mystery, but *shrug*

Either it was his initial wish, or (more probably) it's Schala's wish. Being merged with such a weird alien creature might not help keep her ideas clear in her head. Especially if Lavos isn't even sentient (yeah because he could be non-sentient for all we know).

Even Kid can wish to destroy everything as shown in the canon story in Chronopolis, and in the alternate General Kid ending.

Well yeah...but it's in Lavos nature. He destroys everything. He destroys life. And spreads on to do the same everywhere. The only thing he gives life to are his offspring. Seems like the same thing to me. Schala merely gives him the power to do it throughout time and space, saving him lots of time and reproduction.

I'd really like to find out about Lavos' past, wouldn't anyone else?

What past? The same boring cycle of destroying planets? If, IF Lavos ever sought random destruction, it was probably after he became the Time Devourer. Lavos isn't a demon. He's just a beast that seeks reproduction and succession of his race. Destruction is neither here nor there in his mind. It's just something he's adapted to benefit from.

Schala talks through the flame > She's the arbiter.
Does the flame have a sentience of it's own? Possibly.
Lavos has to be sentient to actually pull back Chronopolis, and devise a plan to interfer in time so that it may live again. To some degree, he has to be. Even with deciding to merge with Schala. That could have gone wrong if Schala became the dominant one. But he must of known something atleast.

Oh, and since people like Zeal "had their souls stolen by Lavos", it seems likely that he has some thoughts of power and ruling the universe, that people like Zeal and some Zealians also were ingulfed in those emotions.

Who said sentience? Not me. He's a beast, of course, but he can still be sentient. Think about everything; everything that Lavos (Not the Time Devourer) does. It either leads to reproduction or self-preservation, and self-preservation leads to reproduction.

Maybe Lavos is still around (in a way).  Maybe Lavos creates the spawnss of Lavos by fission, like bacteria, so the creatures you fight in the future are actually just pieces of the original beast...

That's possible. And taking it a step further, perhaps all Lavoids are controled by a single hive mind, so Lavos really is "ruling atop Death Peak."

Schala was not Arbiter of the Frozen Flame.    She was a component of Lavos, being arbitrated by Serge.
