Kato & Mitsuda are at it again!
« on: September 12, 2005, 11:29:02 pm »
While Gamesarefun.com previously angered Chrono fans by posting a fake Chrono Break poster supposedly circulated in Japan, they've redeemed themselves by posting new information on a game called Deep Labyrinth. It's a first person RPG game that apparently focuses on exploration. It not only has Masato Kato on the development team, but sports Yasunori Mitsuda as the soundtrack composer! For Chrono fans everywhere, this second teaming of Kato & Mitsuda (the previous get-together resulting in Kirite) is a huge beacon of hope, as it seems the two have a close professional relationship. Even without the other developers who've stayed with the series since Trigger, Kato's vision and Mitsuda's usual mastery would ensure a righteous new Chrono title. Let's hope that among other projects, they're still hanging on to ideas for the ol' series!

Though I'm not one for first person RPGs, if "the dynamic duo" are working on it, then maybe it is worth a look...

They don't just have a close professional relationship; from what I can gather, Mitsuda'll call up Kato at four in the morning after a drunken night with some chick at a singles bar and ask if there's any more pot because having sex makes him feel like wanting to write music.  And Kato'll tell him to come on over and they'll watch Star Wars over a cold one while they talk about how much they hate George Bush, and by the end of it all Mitsuda's already composed the soundtracks for the next three Final Fantasy games, but he's so slammed that Uematsu hooks him up to some kind of alien brainwave machine, gets it out, and slaps his name on it while receiving oral sex from a Rikku cosplayer while Aeris and Tifa do it on his bed and Sephiroth's passed out drunk on the couch.

And there was much rejoicing.

...No, seriously.  There REALLY IS much rejoicing.

This pretty much solidifies it, I will be purchasing a DS. How good is the music from the DS? Is it on par with GBA or better?

*Resists urge to ask Kato and Mitsuda to join me in smoking weed and watching Star Wars*

Anyway, could be sexy.

I'll probably pick up a DS for it, if I haven't already by that point.

I'd pay to smoke it up with those two, especially to watch something that visually entertaining. Count me in!

Making me almost spit coca-cola on my beautiful flatscreen monitor from laughing is NOT cool, man. ha ha.

Better. DS has stereo speakers, and claims to be able to emulate surround sound. Eh, whatever, it sounds good. Remember what Mitsuda did with the S.N.E.S., after all...

I can attest myself that the DS has an awesome sound system. WAY better than the GBA, Meteos is proof of this, as is Advance Wars DS (well, most of the themes of that game anyway, Nell's was disappointing), and the new Castlevania (Dawn of Sorrow) looks to have an AMAZING soundtrack. So yes, I can attest that the DS has some great stuff going on.

The game looks.... I dunno.  It doesn't look that interesting.  The screenshots seem rather bland.

You have to remember that those are very preliminary shots, that game isn't slated until mid 2006. There is plenty of time to make the graphics better.

This isn't a new game, BTW. It's a DS port of a mobile RPG. Kato and Mitsuda both worked on the original a couple years ago.

Reallly, it wouldnt work to well of mobile.
Damn, i need a DS! I was going for PSP, but Children of Man, Xenosaga DS and Deep Labrynith are WAY to appealing!
