But why would he summon the Golem is what I am asking. If he knows that they all will get wasted by Lavos I doubt he thinks that any of the Golems would make much of a difference.

Dalton doesn't know any more about what's going to happen any more than the Queen. He was just as arrogant as she was and probably thought they were going to get immortality. Afterall, Lavos gave them magic.

Well, if the Queen decides to jump on Lavos' back and take a ride, then she sure knows what she's doing. I think it was just avoided, possible Schala teleport them out scenario.

Yes, the Queen knows mostly what is going on. I think her interpretation of immortality is a bit skewed, but otherwise she knows what the deal is with Lavos.

Or truer to her character. Simply didn't care about the rest of it by such a point as when our spikey friend got annoyed about being woken up.

I don't think she purposefully wanted Zeal's destruction...even if she was completely evil and mad with power, she would still realize the lost potential in the destruction of all the magical libraries/research facilities etc. of Zeal. Not to mention, the lack of nescessary human labor.

The way I see it, she was insane. Why would she care about anyone else if she was going to end up an immortal? If nothing else, this seemed like her ultimate, all-or-nothing, sacrifice-everything-to-gain goal.

Exactally. She as she created Zeal from her pain and suffering, all that shall now be directed in making herself immortal. Everything she cares for, it's the ultimate price for immortality. And basiaclly, her idea is that anyone who gets killed by Lavos, pretty much becomes a part of him and forever lives immortal too.

So why doesn't she just cut the crap and sacrifice herself to Lavos?

While she's insane, she's not unintelligent, so she could realise that even if she essentially gained immortality via Lavos...she wouldn't be able to experience it. Which would suck.

She'd like to think that she is equal to Lavos.

What? Where does she mention this? If anything she knows she is nothing compared to Lavos.

I've always interpreted it as that Zeal, after hooking up with Lavos, acheived immortality, and thus, with that on her mind, completely forgot about her kingdom, and was blind to its destruction.

...

And, if you consider that we see Queen Zeal as far as 2300AD into the future, at the Black Omen, when she lived all the way back in 12000BC, you must consider that she's lived...over 14300 years (I estimate she was about 40 years or older back when she acheives immortality), so of course you'd have to consider that she's acheived immortality! Of course, she's also probably become a part of Lavos, too.
