A thread about translations, as in "what was this character called in the Japanese version" My question is: what was Ozzie, Flea and Slash called in the original? Was it some Japanese rocker? Jpop star? Random Dude? PORN STAR?
I AM NOW ZEALIAN!!!!!

Have you thought about actually checking around the compendium? There's more to this site than just the forums you know.

And that's why floaters rock, Burning Zeppelin. They know that the mainstay of the Compendium is the Compendium's Encyclopedia.

Well, anyways...Ozzie, Flea, & Slashes names in Japan were wordplays on various condiments.

Ozzie=Binegar. Binegar is a play on vinegar.
Flea=Mayone. Flea's Japanese name is a pun on Mayonnaise.
Slash=Soyso. Soyso is a pun on Soy Sauce.

It was very Akira Toriyama of them to name the trio those things as well as a lot of Akira's characters in the Dragonball series are named after similarly weird random objects and stuff.

Personally I think that both versions are intentionally silly and that neither is "cooler" than the other as many people would say in Woosley's defense.
