Whoa. That puts me in a lot of heat. If we're going to continue the project, then first we need someone who can use RPGMaker well. I can't use it well at all. Can any of you guys use it? Also, can anybody who is offcially part of the team tell me that they are, and tell me what job or position they have? Either way, so long Azarath.

I had plot... which never seemed to go anywhere.  If this project is really going to continue I'd like to see what we have / had to start with.  Then the fun starts.

I have RPGMaker 2000 and can use it, just not as well as I'd like to.  If that helps at all, then let me know.

Plot after Azarath
« Reply #17 on: November 11, 2005, 03:32:38 pm »
Well so far, what was left after Azarath, was very little. We had distinguished the fact that It has Crono, Marle, Schala, Magus, Serge, Kid, and a mystery charcter. It starts off with the four Trigger cast, going to save some guys daughter, and then they get in jail, where Serge and Kid come to their rescue. They then find some stuff that leads them on a bigger journey. I don't know who the mystery character was, but I guess we'll never now. So basically, there is no mystery character. Something I see wrong with this is Magus and Schala being their. And Serge and Kid. Cross, if I'm right, takes place 20 whole years after Trigger. I just don't think it fits. Also, it was supposedly taking place when Porre is invading Gaurdia. I think this is a good point, because having it as a war opens up many possibilities fir enemy encounters and plot twists and things. I guess if I had to choose the party, I'd pick Crono, Marle, and either Lucca, or a new character. For the new character I was thinking maybe a knight captain of Gaurdia or something. Like a Cyrus type, but in 1000AD. What do you guys think of leaving out Serge, Kid, Magus, and Schala? Also, in case anybody was wondering, I needed your name and position so I can put it on the website(www.freewebs.com/chronostream). And Solidstar, would you rather have me put Solidstar, or do you want to tell me your first name? Either is fine. And I don't need your last name.

Either is fine with me (Rob is the real name).

I like the idea of leaving Serge and company out; you're right, it just doesn't fit the timeline.  Also, having a knight captain as the 3rd character would be a good idea, since Lucca will be inevitably busy with the orphanage and such.  Kid could make an appearance, but Kid would have to be a Kid, depending on when this would take place.  The psx ending of CT shows Lucca finding Kid as a baby.  I could get an avi of it if you need it.

Also (this is kind of nice), on the psx version of Trigger, there's a difference between the japanese ending and the american ending.  During which, from what I remember seeing in the japanese ending, is some sort of dialogue written during the Fall of Guardia which never made it in the American release.  Translated anyway.  Let me see about getting a screen of it.

I almost like the idea of the knight captain being a third character that becomes corrupted in one way or another and leads to the Masamune's (or Grandleon as I now know it as) corruption and Guardia's Fall.  Perhaps old ideas of valor are twisted when faced with the idea of Crono becoming the new king.  Fight for one with royal lineage (maybe in Porre) or fight for one whom you detest.  Enter Fall of Guardia (not necessarily that of the heroes, but of Guardia).

I don't know, let me know which direction you want to take with this(just brainstorming).  As a side note, graduated with a degree focusing partially on creative writing :p

Ok, um, I'd like to formally withdraw from this project, as in it's dormancy I've become involved with newly formed, "Threads of Time," and I honestly didn't think this project would see the light of day.

Sorry   .

I guess it's just me and you Solidstar. I PM'd Burning Zeppelin, because a while ago he said he wanted a job, but I was't sure. I'm hoping he still wants it. Also, Azarath had Pm'd me and told me that he had named the new character Alexander. So I guess if we stick with the knight, he's gonna be named Alexander.

It's coming along slowly but surely...we're running into some technical errors, but I think we've overcome what seems to be the worst. Communication is something we need to work on as well, but that's all in good time.

I wish the best of luck to you guys!

Alexander eh?  Good name, and also could be a paradoxical one if he ends up destroying Guardia.  It means, roughly, defender of humanity or something along those lines.  I can't remember if it was the name of some powerful knight or king, but it was in FF3/6 (The Esper Alexander - taught pearl (aka holy)).  Also, the name was in Lunar:SSS - Alex of Burg - the Dragonmaster, savior of the world, Luna, and defender of humanity.
Yeah, I can definitely see that as a Knight Captain name.  Still, what function would he serve.  Playable character?  Hero or enemy?  Loyal or another Benedict Arnold?
Personally, I still like the idea of this knight - in what he felt was honor - betraying the royal family and going mad with the newly acquired Masamune.  Perhaps he mistakingly hurt a comrade.  Or maybe even killed the King.  How?  Could have been a setup by Porre.
-  Porre kidnaps the king, and disguises him as the enemy,
-  The knight captain vanquishes his foe... his liege.
-  Upon realization, he goes mad with rage.
-  Perhaps Crono sent him to do the deed.
-  If Crono is the new king, he has a score to settle with him and all of Guardia.
... it's a possibility... not a very good one and probably unintended, but still... we could probably get away with it.

We could also go in an entirely different direction with this.  Maybe one of the Acacia Dragoons fins the sword and corrupts it, before Radius, before anyone else.  How?  It's up to speculation.

Anyway, let me know some feedback and/or the direction you want to take with this.  Not to mention we really ned a starting point.  I'll say 1004 / 1005 AD.  Maybe start on a small quest to Leene Square (could be Nadia Square now) to get new baby Crono some milk and such.  It could take off from there.  Also, are we going to do any time traveling / dimensional crossing?  Again let me know.

I havent played CC, so if that is a problem, no worries, ill leave. But i do know quite a bit about it.
How 'bout:
-Guardia is ruled by a corrupt leader, but only the highest officials know
-They send a great KNIGHT to go on an expedition with 4 other soldiers to some caves (i know its cliche, just bear with it)
-A huge monstrosity is there, and must be killed, which you fight.
-Your party fails
-One of the soldiers is alive, the one at the beginning
-While he is clambering back out the cave, he over hears some genetic mutation plan which includes monsters eating people to gain their SOUL which makes them more powerful. They believe that he was eaten, yet the rest werent.
-On the way back, he meets a girl, who leads him to her house, where he meets any couple of characters from any of the games, who are old
-The beginning party will includ of him, the knight, the girl (who is...17) as the black mage, and some other dude, who is her friend, who can be a monk from a nearby, equally corrupt monastery
Sorry for the bad plot, off of my head
-The monastery brainwashes people through sermons and stuff, and pretty much controls the entire town

Other PC's could include:
-The revolutinary woman, who uses a gun
-The horseman (if possible) who uses a...horse
-The noblelady, who was supposed to be sacrificed in a sick ritual, but jumps out the window into a garden, and, ho ho ho! You are there too!
Other Villains could be:
-The Dark Mage, servant of a spawn of Lavos
-The Dark Swordsman, "              "
-The Dark Gunner, "              "
-Your friend, who stays with the Empire

It WILL tie in with CT storyline, I PROMISE!

Oh, and thanks for letting me into the club!

So Solidstar, you're saying Crono sends Alexander to kill the enemy, and he does, but later finds out that it was the kidnapped king he killed? Hmmm.....I like that idea. Then making Cron king would make sense, becasue he married the princess, so he would take over as king. But then, the downside is Marle couldn't be in your party, because Crono would probably leave her to rule in his place. Then it would be Crono, Alexander, the other party member, and the Gaurdian army, against the whole Porre onslaught. But then, if they stuck with Gaurdia, they'd lose, and no one wants to see the good guys lose right? So something would have to happen that leads Crono to thinking that Gaurdia is wrong, and Porre is the true good. Or, then again, if we keep Crono with Gaurdia, and have him go down fighting, it would make an emotional scene of loyalty and heroism, where he sticks with his kingdom till the very end, and it would be sad and dramatic, but it might not appeal to happily-ever-after lovers. Because I don't think the games ever mention how Crono dies. And Alexander was originally intended to be a playable character not a villian, so I guess we should stick with that. I also have a guy who might want to do music, so things are looking up. Also, as far as Zeppelins suggestions go, I like how you start the story with the knights,(but like you said, it is a tad cliche) and I like everything, except for the "some other guy" cause I'd like to keep it at a 3 person party. And seeing how Marle may be ruling, as in Solid's suggestion, we need a new female, so the 17 year old girl is a good idea. I also the like the revolutionary gunwomen. Not with Gaurdia or Porre, and with a faction all her own.  I also like the "best friend who stays with the empire". So it's Crono's good friend, and then on the battlefield, they meet as enemies. What then? Do they reluctantly kill eachother in a tragic act of fighting between friends, or do they not fight? Also, seeing as how the game is Chrono Stream, we gotta incorparate a Stream somewhere. Azarath said the name is up to me now, so other names I thought of were Chrono War(becasue they're at war), and Chrono Knight(because of the new knight character). But also, Trigger and Cross were named after useable items, so that factor comes into play. One more thing, in the credits, would you like to have it as just our names, or do you want to think of a sort of team name? Seeing as how our names all start with R's(I'm Ryan by the way, and then along with Rafi, and Rob), we could name it R Squared. You know, the math thing, if there's three numbers it's "BLANK squared" so three R's, R Squared. Get it? I know it sounds cheesy, but it's the best I could think of.

Actually, id like Crono  to be more of a very supporting character then a pc, and that the knights best friend is met on the battlefield, and then they fight, and its really sad.

I think the whole, everything isn't as happpily ever after, is what can really make this game shine.  I'm definitely with the idea that Crono could go down fighting.  Or, from another standpoint, maybe Crono and Marle go on the run after a Porre takeover and are using some undisclosed area as a base to launch attacks and reclaim what's theirs.

I definitely like the idea of the revolutionary gunwoman, and even the lady who was to be sacrificed but is saved.  I think we can definitely tie in the idea of the brainwashing too.  We can tie this into Porre and it's military uprising.
- Suppose some outside force starts brainwashing / manipulating the citizens of Porre.
- They become prone to fits of rage and whatnot.
- To be able to control themselves, they need a high form of dicipline, which can only be attained from the Porre military (as they have some sort of cure for it).
- Suppose our knight friend goes to Porre (on a mission) and gets brainwashed.
- Being from Guardia he has no way to be helped, and with his newly acquired MasaMune, goes in a fit of rage destroying everything in his path...

What can I say, I still like this idea.  We can have him be a playable character for a bunch of the storyline too.  Have him be the honarable knight, driven into a fit of madness and destroy everything he once knew and loved.

As for the 17 year old girl... I like the idea, maybe after all is said and done, she can be the one to bring him back.  And they have to help re-establish Guardia.  The MasaMune is taken elsewhere / dropped / lost in the El Nido area where it is later found by Radius, and you know the CC story from there.

And as for Porre, well, they're now fighting against Alexander, Revolutionary gunwoman, etc while trying to conquer El Nido.  And most know that a war fought around the world will end up in failure.  So maybe Guardia becomes re-established, but not with as much power as it previously had.

As for the original cast... depends on who you want to work with.  I'd say Lucca should be out since she's running an orphanage.  Crono could be in, along with Marle.  Possibly fighting off Porre.  I don't think that Lynx or Harle would be after Crono or Marle since they didn't help program or give guidance to Fate at all, so they should be safe in that respect.

Now, for the time idea... I guess it depends on who's time traveling / dimension crossing and whatnot.  That and what enables them to do so... besides the "entitty did it" crap.  What time periods, dimensions will one come across?  remember there's at least 3 in Crono Cross... Home, Another, and the Reptite one (which proves that there's more than one dimensional split).

So yeah, input please.  Oh, and the best friend fighting the other best friend can be really interesting, kind of like when Karsh had to fight Dario (so sad).  It definitely makes for a good story though.
