Chrono Cross: Attack on Dinopolis
« on: October 10, 2005, 08:43:38 pm »
Remember that scene, in the Terra Tower, explaining about Dinopolis and some resistance fighters? Ya know those fighter ships (they remind of Death-Gliders from StarGate) attacking something like the Terra Tower? What are the names (if any) of them? I've affectionately nicknamed the ships "ZIG Fighters" from Zero Wing which is satired in the bonus on the English version of Radical Dreamers.

Those stealth fighters, while they were cool, weren't given names.

They're just stealth fighters, probably controlled remotely by the FATE Computer system. They probably wouldn't have used human pilots. Use of human pilots has probably since become obsolete by the year 2400AD, but I'm only assuming.

FATE and Chronopolis attacked Dinopolis, as Dinopolis's presence, as far as FATE was concerned, probably would've been an immediate threat to FATE and Chronopolis's existence in the future.

Remember, FATE's entire purpose and part of its programming is to preserve itself so that Project Kid can be carried out. That, and so the normal course of history remains unchanged.

Project Kid would not have worked had the planet not pulled in Dinopolis. Also, Those stealth fighters are possibly the little stealth fighter monsters that roam around Chronopolis, obviousally not to scale size.

Just out of curiostiy (and this goes well with the reptites vs. humans thread), who do you think incited the battle? Did the citizens of Chronopolis realise that a conflict is inevitable for some unknown reason? Or perhaps the advanced reptites of Dinopolis still held their hatred for humans, even though they had last contested together more than 65 million years ago.

They give no relevance, but if I had to guess human nature, the citizens of Chronopolis may have started the attack, fearing that Dinopolis may become advanced enough (in their eyes) to pose a serious threat.  Not to mention FATE's primary program is to preserve itself, but I can't remember when exactly FATE was built.  I haven't played Chrono Cross in a few years.

Dinopolis getting introduced into a world void of Reptites, along with their technology, would have been a significant change on the world, if left challenged.  FATE probably moved to defeat them to minimize their effect on history.

[Nitpicking]

No, there are no stealth fighter enemies in Chronopolis that look like the ones in that still scene.

If you're talking about the Aero Guards, they were white, and they were the only floating, hovering, flying machines in Chronopolis.

The stealth fighters shown in the still scene are clearly black.

We only saw snippets (really, one scene) of the fight between Chronopolis and Dinopolis.  At least in my mind, I never pictured Chronopolis winning without a decent fight.

Hello, everything is smaller in the battle and on screen, except for the FMVs. >.> Duh. Does Dinopolis look as realistic as it does on the map than the FMV? DUH! Those Aero Guards most probably were them, maybe from another angle, or another kind.

I don't know much about the fighters, other than they bombed Dinopolis.  However, I've always had a hunch that one or more CT characters was involved in the Polis War.  After all, it wasn't just Dragon God vs. FATE.  There were soldiers and reptites risking their lives on both sides, most of which had magical or technological enhancements.  It would take someone strong to tip the balance of the war...

That war was in 7600 BC, no one lived anywhere near that time from Trigger.

Good call. But my point still stands, unless Magus helped. But I see no forseable reason for him to since he is soley looking for Schala.
