When I battled him at Magus' Castle. That's one of the few times you get to see him in bad ass mode, basically pwning your characters. Now you know how much stronger he is than anyone, not to mention plot wise too :D

I really started liking him after I fought him that first time.  =)

Lucca was the last one standing with under 10 HP left.  I wanted him to be a PC so badly; I nearly fell out of my seat when he joined.

Frog: Magus!!

Magus: I...it's that stupid frog!
   Kissed any princesses lately?!

Frog: I rather enjoy this form.
And I oweth it all to you!
   I have something for you!

Magus: Ah...!
   The Masamune!!!
I bet you're just dying to use it!
The black wind begins to blow...
   Okay...give me your best shot...
   If you're prepared for the
   void!

That right there. That whole little exchage between Frog & Magus. That sealed the deal, but you left out the flashbacks, ZeaLitY! How forgetful! I mean, those scenes made me go, "whoa, there's one badass mo-fo right there...I bet he's a boss! ^_^" And, lo and behold, I'm blown away not once, but twice because he's also a playable character! O_o

Well, whenever it was, he had me at, "hello"...what? he didn't say, "hello"? That slick bastard...

I'm strange but...I really didn't like him until after he joined your party. I enjoyed the contemplative, slightly brooding/philosophical aura he gave off then...I wasn't impressed with him at all really during the fight against him. His battle was fun, and the music was great but...I just wasn't impressed with him. Angsty, emo-esque characters just don't cut it for me anymore.

However, I did find him to be interesting post>Crono's death, so I can't say he's all bad.

I'm slow to vote here o_O

So ok, Magus was a cool bad guy and everything, sure. I didn't ever think much of bad guys, especially not main ones, save a select few, and he wasn't anything special, just a supposed main one until proven wrong. Suddenly he whips off the robe and turns out to be the Prophet. "Holy shit! That's awesome! Is he good now? I WANT HIM IN MY PARTY!!!"

And sure enough...

Actually, in my opinion, Square makes better antagonists then protagonists. Apart from squall of course. This lone angst rider is going through an angst time and is very angst about it.

Sarcasm? If so, it's expressed in a very strange way...

I don't believe that you can say Square produces better antagonists as a general statement...for example, Chrono's arguably best characters would be Kid/Schala, which aren't antagonists at all.

I still would like an explanation of why Magus is so great...besides being, "badass omgz he rulez!" Or because of his music. Right now, thinking about it, I find him to be a pretty self-centered and selfish person. The only reason he joins up with Crono's party is because of his goal of fulfilling his personal vendetta. And also, for no accountable reason did he need to turn Glenn into a Frog...it's like kicking a crippled when he's down. Not cool  :?

I absolutely agree with you. I'm sick of hearing people love bad guys cuz they're so...bad! What's up with that? Why do you people like "bad"? Honestly, what happened to placing respect where it belongs? *sigh* Good characters don't get any respect at all, and the few good characters that really get loved are the assholes like Cloud and Squall. God people, lighten up!

I liked Magus most when he was showing traits of good in him! Why aren't good characteristics popular? Arg.

Ah well, Crono kicks ass any day, so does Frog. Well...in my opinion.

Because Good characters suck shit. Why do they always have to win. NO ONE LIKES THAT ANYMORE! Fucking hell, look at pokemon. It's so retarded. That stupid amature Ash and his retard pokemon always own everyone. Team Rocket should have won by now. The Kids who used to watch pokemon when they were young hate it now because they realise that it's soo booring.

Everyone loves a good pessemist, evil dooer or mastermind :)

Well I don't. I love characters who show true gold inside, and dislike characters who show they're black, empty, or worthless, good and bad characters. This said, I love Kefka and hate Eiko, for examples.

But that's me =p
