Zapers right you know. Team Rocket are just people, trying to live. IF you read the Outsider youd know.  But then again, dipshit people think that revealing small kids to the real world is dangerous.
I dont like Magus coz he is bad. I dont believe in a definite evil you see. I like Magus because of his character, and how beautifully it is expressed. Im just saying because SQUARE are such great storytellers, they can make any villain look good. Villains are usually dikheads, as you can see from places where they go "hey, ill accidentally push this button....*blow up which subsequently makes they hero win who was being eaten by sharks* and i wasnt being sarcastic abut Squall, he is great

I liked Kefka not because he was evil, but because even though he's screwed and crazy in the head, he's also a mastermind and finally obtains all this power.

Oh geeze, you guys are going to make me go in-depth as to why I like Magus and why he's so great? I honestly thought it was obvious...Because it's so easy to fanfic him! Now go read my fanfic Magness! :P

j/k...Boy it's been a while since I've pimped myself out like the nasty whore that I am...er...

Magus is a great character because of his morals, or lack of them, yes. But the real reason I like him is because of his diehard, all-or-nothing attitude towards...everything! He shows that he's patient, cool, calm & collected. He has a set goal and nothing stops him from going all out in trying to achieve his goals, much unlike the lonesome, self-loathing, Frog. I don't think transforming Glenn was that big of a deal...I mean, heck, it's obvious that he could have done a lot worse. By then he was just playing with him. I mean, heck, they were out to kill him...It was a war and he didn't want anyone ruining his plans. Personally, I never get tired of a good revenge-based character. It's an easily personable emotion, you can emphasize w/someone out for revenge; someone who breaks down all the taboo barriers and does what they want because they've been wronged for w/e reason. It's also kind of sad because revenge isn't an emotion that gets very good results, as expressed in many stories over time. Revenge more often then not begets revenge and so forth. Magus' strength can also be his weakness. He's a very driven character, but he's also a lone wolf. He doesn't want many people around to skew his goals, but what's so great is that he will tolerate people around him as a means to an end. Not even people who would possibly consider themselves to be his friend would be above his willingness to use for whatever reason. I also think that his ties to his sister are strong, perhaps stronger than are specifically stated. Obviously I'm dwelling into personal opinion territory now, but I think that Magus' main goal may be vengeance, but you can also percieve it as a kind of retribution. He doesn't take his sister away from the danger, not because he doesn't care, but because he knows; he knows that there would be almost no where he could take her for one and for another I don't think he could live with himself that way. He needs to redeem himself not just for himself, but for her. In a way, by defeating Lavos, perhaps it would help to clean the blood from his hands and that way he could then live with his sister without regret and shame. So I don't think Magus has to be a strictly revenge-based character and that too is a reason why he's so well liked.

Oh yeah, and isn't it just bitchin' that his surprised sprite is him bein all pissed off? Heh heh! Magus doesn't like surprises! That's awesome and it fits his character (that first surprise of many hucked him through time after all)!

As for Squall...I liked him alright...But, much like w/Cecil from FFIV, after the 180, he just wasn't as good of a character...He was more just a piece in the whole love puzzle that was most of FFVIII, a good game none-the-less...>_>

Magus x Lucca = Perfect Paring :D Ayla and Robo and Frog by his lonesome :P Man, that's sexy :D

Anyway, I also like Magus because of the "Alright, you want to fight me, make this quick" because he like knows he'll win anyway. And he would have, if it was just him and Frog. The Masamune didn't do thaaat much to him. I also like his pessemistic, gloomyness. Cheerful people are annoying.

Magus is great because he owns you.  Its that simple.  Come to accept that, and you will feel much better.

And I put the Fight with Magus... Although thats not really true.  Frog's flashback of Magus killing Cyrus.  Thats when it was for me.  But the fight with Magus just seemed closer to that than seeing Mystic's worshipping his statue.

Lavos is great in that Lavos is one of the best villains of all RPGdom...but he lacks personality...

Zaper, thought I guess it can become a tad predictable if the, "good guys," win, not all situations are black and white. An ideal situation in which the "good" guys win would show the inevitable good and bad consequences that follow. The problem is, a lot of conclusions only show the positive aspects, and neglect the darker parts that still exist regardless.

er...you like Kuja why?

Kefka kicks all ass because he's a truly evil man. I once read a bad guy comparison done of the baddies in Dragonball Z (yes, when I was an anime n00b), trying to give their reasoning as to why Frieza is the coolest bad guy, and after all the comparisons, you realize that Frieza is the only guy who is a realy living person completely unpersuaded or non-puppeted into being the way he is. That's the same reason I like Kefka, he's a real person who's just truly evil. Evil and crazy. Sephiroth is confused, drugged out, lied to, fucked up, etc. Ultimecia...well she sucks =p Kuja is like all Zidanes race, essentially a bionic robot or something. Seymour...well he sucks too. =p

...*cough*...so that had nothing to do with the poll.

In efforts to save this post from being humiliatingly deleted: Magus really isn't very different from Squall, actually, except that Magus doesn't turn around and later get a grip and realize what an asshole he is.

Kuja is not like all of Zidanes race, only he, Zidane and his weird sister who is introduced in the final hour are the same. Kuja rocks, mainly 'cause  of the Bahamut scene. Plus, Kuja rocks because he has personality. And yes, it would be good if the good guys won, but showed it in a realistic way. In Harry Potter: CoS (we had to do it for english. I said Donnie Darko, in fact, i showed the teacher it, but she said no >.<), at the end, the Basilisk just misses him and all, and the stupid bird comes with the stupid sword. harry has aboslutely no skill. Sure, the bird CHOSE him, but thats just so fucked up. Wow, he survived Voldemort, he is so high and mighty. He must be the chosen one, becuase he survived voldemort. You idiots, his mum saved him, not his own ultimate skill!

There really should be an "other" catagory... not that I don't like this poll.

I only started to like Magus a -while- after I played the game. For the longest time I just figured him some spoiled magic-superpowered emo with aditude who'd gotten the 'blank' end of the stick after the Ocean Palace incident.

After a while though, especially after I started surfing the compodium and looking into projects like Chrono Crisis and fan made novels and whatnot, I started to look deper into his character and all the factors the contributed to making him who he is. I still don't like him the best by -FAR- (Guru fan 4 lyfe yo) but... hell, after all this time it's hard to hate any of the CT crew.
