Chrono Cross FAQ

...I believe I'm a bit confused as to the point of this sticky. Is it for us to ask questions we have about the game, or for you to collect possible FAQs to make into a CC FAQ? 'Cuz I thought it was the second, I know the answers to all these...-_-

Well, good for you, Mystik3eb. Not everyone has played and knows CC as perfectly as we (ok, I don't belong in this supposed group, but w/e) all do...The FAQ is obviously not for everyone who knows everything or w/e...It's just questions that are frequently asked (whoa!). ala CT's "Who is the Entity?" and "Who is Gaspar talking about that I need to save?" FAQs.

What do these colored balls mean?(After getting the Chrono Cross. each prolly represents an element, but what for?)

The colored balls indicate the types of elements that have been used during the battle. For example, if you use Volcano, a red ball is added. Then, if the enemy uses Carnivore, a green ball is added.

*SPOILER* Now, why are the balls there? Because you must create a specific pattern of element colors in order to use Chrono Cross. The order is Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White. Once you achieve this order, you can use Chrono Cross to free Schala and see the ending.

So u need to b lucky that TD doesnt attack? Because u need 7 attacks in a row(6 Elements + Chrono Cross). Or does he stop attacking? Need to get my CC fixed and try it :?

Once you start the Chrono Cross element sequence, the TD will not interrupt the pattern.  If you pound the TD for a while, it will start the sequence on its own.

Actually, the TimeDevourer uses the opposite of the element you need. In the beginning, you need Yellow to start the pattern. So, TD casts green elements.

First, you have to build your element grid. Then you have to fill your attack bar (that blue bar, I forget whether it has a name) by defending (maximum is 7.0 I think). Then, immediately after the last TD's attack, use a Yellow element, then a Red element. Then, defend. Since you need a Green element to continue the pattern, the TD will use a Yellow element. But a Yellow element starts a new pattern. So, you continue the pattern immediately (Red, Green, Blue, Black, White). This is TD's turn to attack, but once you have achieved the pattern, it won't move. Now it's the time to use the Chrono Cross!

However, this tactics requires that you put the Chrono Cross in Serge's Level 1 grid, so that you can use it with just 1 element level. It is also strongly recommended that you put elements of different colors (no matter how strong they are) in Levels 1 and 2 of your characters' grids, so that they don't spend many Levels to use them and that Serge will have at least 1 Level left, in order to use the Chrono Cross. So, you must prepare your grid very carefully, so that nothing goes wrong. Good luck :)

Well, the GOOD ending you refer should be the normal ending if you were to play through CC all the way up to the TD at Opassa Beach, where in which you use the Time Egg to engage in your last battle. Using the Chrono Cross by your element placements on the screen next to the field affect, gives you the TRUE or GOOD ending. The BAD ending is if you beat the TD without using the Chrono Cross.

Which GOOD ending of the CC game are you refering too?

That's not the secret ending. It is the "Good" ending.

I don't remember it, but if it exists, then it isn't the real ending. The Chrono Cross ending is equivalent to killing Lavos through the Black Omen in Chrono Trigger; Although there are several endings--in Chrono Cross all but the "bad" ending can't be gotten until you hit New Game +--the canon story claims a single ending as the official truth.

Time to take a little burden off ZeaLitY's shoulders. :3

Let me put it this way -- if in the course of the story you're required to kill the Hydra, you can never get Glenn. Glenn can only be acquired if you choose not to save Kid after the poison dagger incident, and you'll get him in your party during your return trip to Termina. He's pretty hard to miss as long as you know the requirements to recruiting him.

It's random in every game. Just guess a number and pray you're lucky!
