Hello all, long-time lurker (around a year), first-time poster.  What a fitting first post, on the first time you play the game!

There are a few bosses that stand out in my mind.
- The first battle with Magus actually didn't take me *too* long.  It was tricky, yes, but not that bad compared to others.
- Fighting Azala and Black Tyrano took a while because I thought that I was supposed to take out Black Tyrano before Azala.  Once I figured out that it's a lot easier to take out Azala first, it wasn't that bad.
- The boss under the desert in the optional quest was quite hard too.  He took a while.
-Son of Sun would have been hard, except one of my characters (Frog I believe) was wearing fire-absorbing armour, so I just let the other two perish while Frog took on Son of Sun alone.  Piece of Cake.
-Mother Brain...  By FAR the hardest the first time I tried.  Still is the hardest too (for me at least).  It's probably because my normal strategy is so destructive when fighting Mother Brain, as I tend to heal a bunch, which means that I wasn't doing damage to her fast enough.  The whole damage increasing every time took me a bit to get used to.
-Lavos form three wasn't exactly hard, but he took me a while.  You see, for some reason it took me forever to figure out that I needed to attack Lavos Core to beat him.  I don't know why it took me so long.  Regardless, that error just cost me a few ethers.

So, in conclusion, Mother Brain was by far the hardest for me the first time around, and still is.  Then again, I've never fought Magus the second time (as I always have him join me), so I can't say about that.

Just wondering, why would you edit your first post? Son of Sun and Mother Brain are the hardest. Funny how "middle" bosses are always the hardest. Screw you people, i did find Riku 2nd form (i think. The one where you fight alone) the hardest real boss in the whole game.

Magus, ooooh i remember haveing a mental breakdown trying to beat him, in the end it totalled about 23 rentals, and bite marks in the controller. Then i beat him, and i had to run  and tell my bro.

I would have to say the Golem Twins. I only beat them my first time because I had Frog continuously cast Heal, Robo continuously cast heal beam, and Crono constintly cast Luminaire/use FullEthers on himself. I trained for quite a while to get Luminaire, then the fight was pretty easy.

I'd also say GolemBoss, just because I consider the fight lost if he manages to run...

Giga Gaia wasted me like I was a lvl one newbie.  The Golem Twins killed me no fewer than 10 times before I finally deiced to just Lumiaire them to oblivion.  The Azala/Black Tyran fight wasn’t too hard, but it was so long that I was worried I'd run out of recovery items before it was over.  All the more reason I went to the Lavos battle with 99 Elixirs in my pouch.  :wink:

Are we counting Golem? Because that'd be nuts to think that people would legitamately beat it their first playthrough w/no fair warning what-so-ever...

Oh yeah, Golem Boss totally ran on me first playthrough...but on my first New Game+ I was all over the bastard...You won't run on me ever again!!! BWAH HAHA!!!
