Magus I changed to Gil. After he's on your team I always saw it as him being finished with both of his old names...and he goes by Gil/Magil in RD so it only makes sense to have a transition there...

Frog I only change to Glenn after he goes through that "Mine name is Glenn" scene.

Marle I'd change after she realizes that Crono & Lucca know who she is...Especially since Marle is just her almost saying her whole name (in the Japanese version her name is Marldia or something) but then cutting it off because she can't just tell Crono her real name.

I did a run calling them by their names from the start, but I've got to agree with V_T's reasoning for his choices. Although I'd use Magil over Gil, but that's just personal preference.

Sometimes I change Magus to Janus, Frog to Glenn, and Marle to Nadia. But that's about it.

I only ever change Frog and Marle, but one you didn't mention that could be changed is Robo. I played through with him as R66-Y once. That was actually kinda cool.

Yeah me too! Stupid automated script-readers for character translations...*mumble grumble*...

Just because it wasn't likely for Poshul to say "Cronoie-poo!" Try saying that outloud and see if it's English...ly...correct.

I usaly name the characters stuff that is on my mind at the time.

For example, I had just read about WWII over the summer and I got to name Luccia, in which she has a German accent. I name her Hitla. :P

Shitty, I know.

Renaming Robo makes little sense story-wise though...Unless you just wanna be an ass to Marle or something because before you name Robo she says that R-66Y isn't good enough and then when you give her a new name she says it's perfect...>_>

Prometheus would be alright, but Robo seems to shun the name when Mother Brain calls him it...Like Magus before him, Prometheus was his old name. He is Prometheus no longer...now, he is Robo...and then there's a circuit in CC named after Prometheus...so...yeah...

*shrugs*

Although I did name Grobyc Robo once...I almost thought about naming him Obor though...Obor...hehe

I can remember an old gamepro?(i think) magazine that reveweid trigger. They obviously never played it because they have frogs portrait and caption under it saying"You could even name this guy poopface if you wanted too". When I first learned about trigger actually.
