Gotta disagree with you there. Politely, of course, since this isn't a debate thread. As a kid and even still today I think The Far Side is extremely witty. It isn't really my type of wit, although I do find it humorous enough to smile at, but intelligence is certainly not a trait it lacks. The simplicity you cite may even be a testament to that; one need not necessarily be complicated and elaborate to achieve intelligence...especially in some of the arts. Gary Larson's ability to boil down meaningful ideas into a simplistic, intuitive presentation is quite remarkable!

The ability is true enough I suppose, but I don't find it unique to Larson. It's a rather common attribute to come by in regular everyday comics. I will admit, there are some excellent Far Sides that make me laugh for a long time, but most are just so obvious that they really aren't very funny...at least not to me.

I suppose I described it wrong. It's not "simple" so much as "obvious." Or...maybe it's both? *shrug* I don't even know anymore, haha.

I just agree that Calvin & Hobbies is brilliant.

Yeah...I thought about adding that one to the list of choices, but I didn't think many people would know about it, so in the end I picked Doonesbury as a choice instead. Guess I flubbed. It's an angry comic, but a good one.

THAT'S what that comic was called! That regular comic has my favorite art style. And the humor is decent enough. Add that one to my list.

Only occassionally does CAD come with a funny strip. Most of the time its stupid and too fanboyish. Penny Arcade, Nuklear Power and Mega Tokyo are where its at.

For what it's worth, my favorite online stip is RPG World. Unfortunately, after a year of tentative hiatus, the author ended it just before the final confrontation.

Yeah. That was a good strip back in the day. Hasn't he said that he intended to finish it at some point though?

Ah yes! RPG World, the old RPG satire comic.

I like it because it somewhat has a story to it, with the occasional break from the action to spoof a game or movie. I don't think its very fanboyish, you can defintely tell the guy is a major Xbox fan but he doesn't just slam Ninty and Sony and praise MS.

I never liked Penny Arcade, I follow 8 Bit, and I haven't heard of Mega Tokyo. Fill me in?

He slams Sony all the time!
Latest comic; not bothered to find more biased ones

Mega Tokyo is the story of l33t dudes in Japan playing games and stuff. It's not satire or anything, just story based.[/img]

CAD is pretty damn biased; Absath slams Nintendo the most out of any of them and seems to exalt the Xbox.  But he's funny when he isn't being a dick.

Yeah, the strip where they put down a GameCube was just plain harsh.

He's defintely biased, but he's funny. And Sony deserves to be bashed. I don't agree with most his biases, but that doesn't change his stuff from being funny. In fact, I disagree with most his opinions.

Aye, he did say he intended to finish it. But, as with most major projects people undertake in their lives, it ended before its time. Will he actually finish it at some point? One can only hope! But I won't hold my breath.

The strips were excellent right up to the very last one. And, bloody hell, he literally did end it right before the final confrontation! That's like getting just up to Sephiroth and then your friggin' disc cracks in two.
