The Super NES came out in 1991. Chrono Trigger came out in 1995. The true value of the system won't be known until they stop making games for it; not when they've just started. See the Dreamcast, for further reference.
Take a look at the launch titles for the SNES:
Super Mario World
F-Zero
Pilotwings
Now try and tell me that none of those games are classics. Try it! You can't because they are such solid games. Whne I say value of a system, I mean how well the industry wil use the console for its entire lifespan. If RE4 came out as a launch for the Gamecube I would have to argue that it wouldn't be third in the market. I am not saying that they garuntee anything, but it is a very tell tale sign of the future of the console.
On the FF quote, they were interested in doing a Crystal Chronocals sequel. I hated Crystal Chronicals.
As for the games being released on the revo, you have only named existing series. While it is true that pretty much all of the revolution's good games will be made by Nintendo themself, you neglected to mention that Nintendo has stated that they are going to establish a few NEW series and maybe drop some of the old ones.
I specifically remember right afetr E3 the president of SE saying that they were very interested in what the Rev was capable of, not that they were interested in doing a sequel to FF:CC. Was your statement made later than that?
I know, I was countering cupn00dles argument about why he is getting the PS3 by listing the games that will be out eventually for the Rev. I remember them saying they'll establish a new series and that Metroid Prime 3 would be the last Metroid Prime game. Besides that I have heard nothing about what or what not will be continued.
Yeah, I'm afraid I have to disagree entirely. Unless you're talking about the console's value "at launch time"...
Like I said before, the consoles launch has a direct effect on the life of the console, quality of new games, and quantity of new games. If the launch is a flop then third party companies are going to be hesitant with making a "killer ap" for that console because they could lose money if the game doesn't get the sales that they predicted.
