Why should Crono Cross even be considered as a sequel?

I read the thread. Nowhere have I seen you give any proof that the creators wanted CC not to be a sequel.
Nor did I state that you didnt accept that CC was a sequel.

Maybe it's you who needs to read more carefully.

CC was supposed to be a remake of RD, a sequel, if you wanna call it that way. Along the way, it lost the label of 'RD remake' and became an independent Project, a full third installment of the Chrono series.

I'm not your baby sitter. If you don't believe me, go and check all the interviews and prove me wrong. I don't need to answer to you.
Also, the CC sequal thing wasn't really directed at you.

Kinda, the producers wanted to totally create a new game. And as you said, CC was based off RD. But since it ties itself with CT, it is it's sequal. It's just that they purposely created like 40 characters, elements, a new battle system, etc all to make it feel different.

I don't think that CC gets the credit it deserves.  If you just see the basic main storyplot of the game, it is an excelent sequel to the CT story.  However, because they weighed the game down with so many characters and side stories, it became too easy for the main story to get swallowed up.  I think that fans have altogether rejected the game because it requires so much effort to pull the story that we were meant to see an appreciate from amongst everything else they threw in.

See, this is why I like the Zelda series.  It provides plenty of extras and sideplot, but they make it possible for you to just play the general storyline without worrying about all the extra stuff.  CC makes you get so personally involved in these side quests (some are even forced on the player inbetween main story points) that it's easy to loose perspective of what you're doing.  I had to use the guide the first time playing because I had a hard time remembering where I needed to go and what I needed to do because all the side plot/characters drove it from my mind.

The point is you said 'No, they never intended to be a Chrono Trigger sequel', while they did. Kato just wanted to create a game that is seemingly unrelated, having the connections very deep. I'm wager he's foreseen there'll be CC haters like Jonny here. Making a different sequel doesn't mean the same characters go through new adventures on another planet.

Crono: 'wowz, we r flying in space and fighting lavos! i 8 lavos, gawr! lol'
Marle: 'crono don't die i love u and if u die lavos sux lol'
Lucca: 'lavos planet! crash!'

Seriously, Kato does something I think more developers should do: When they have a good game, they don't just keep punching the formula and milking it for more cash and fanbase, but rather changing the formula while developing the story to expose the game for a different fanbase. It's better to have sci-fi fans then just plain nerds who keep saying 'magus ruxxerz major suxerz'. He took a brave risk, a risk more people should make. He made the plot an even greater work of genius, and idiots who bash it piss me off like hell.

So it's decided. The Makers of CC are geniuses, it was an intended sequel, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Now can we close this before it turns into a fullout flamefest? We all know it's heading there.

I second that.
Seriously go flame on your own free time... I don't like reading through flames... only the first 2 are interesting, it gets boring afterwards...

I fourth it. This argument was stupid from the start and the question was answered like six years ago.

I say "give up, you loose" on behalf of the defeated, Zaper.  I'm trying to get the defeated party to stop where they are in their arguement before they discredit themselves anymore.  When its established beyond a shadow of a doubt that one side wins, but the other side continues, the "give up, you loose" comment is warranted.

I fifth that, this shouldn't have even been an arguement.  I'd expect something like this on GameFAQs before the anaylsis section of the Compendium.

Yea. This was never really analysis of "Characters, Plot, and Themes" anyway, so it should've atleast been moved before all this.

Seriously... where is a mod when you need one...
This topic is dead, and should have been closed like 2 pages ago.  After the first reply proving its a sequel...
