True. Ayla might be like Mitochondrial Eve, but that only makes MORE problems. Oh god....

Ayla got sucked into the End of Time or whenever till long after Marle's birth, yet during the ending Lucca still states that Kino and Ayla are Marle's ancestors. During the whole game Guardia and Marle shouldn't exist because Ayla didn't return to 65,000,000BC "yet".

But Schala never returns to Zeal and we god well know that Magus is too badass to have a brat around the dark fortress. And Ayla could be written off as Time Traveler's Immunity. Maybe the Entity gave her a free pass to leave without mucking up the timeline.

Another semi-unlikely possibility is that Magus impregnated a woman, without ever becoming the father figure. It could have happened many places, as I don't remember any mention as to which life Magus went back to after the adventure. A couple of variations may include:

Having a woman give birth to a son/daughter in 600AD and then send it off to 12,000BC. (Rating this as uber-unlikely)

He may have 'visited' 12,000BC, causing a woman surviving the Zeal incident to give birth to a child. (Rating this as somewhat-less-than-uber-unlikely)

It couldn't have happened in the original timeline since Magus died, so it didn't happen. And I wouldn't think it'd happen it all. He's  abit to lonerish. Even celebate?

All of the off-topic discussion has been split to general discussion.

The ancestral line above has a representative in every time period playable in the game except for 2300AD, but I'm not sure that matters much.

Unless I'm mistaken then I think that this is untrue. At the end of the game, all of Marle's ancestors and descendants come to the castle and tell King Guardia of the deeds the group has done throughout time. Kino and Ayla are proven to be Marle's descendants and Doan appears to reiterate the group's contributions in the future. Doesn't that mean that Doan is a direct descendant of the royal family in Guardia?

That's the implication, so in fact, 12,000BC is the only playable time period (not counting EoT) that doesn't have a member of the Guardia line represented.

*thinks* Original timeline... He was shipped off to 600 A.D. ... Went on with being Magus (as opposed to Janus) and then summoned Lavos for the sake of revenge. I could put it this way, that we don't know what could've happened had Crono and co. not interjected, whether he lived or died. (Think Ozzy's Fort, and the cat. Unlikely, but it DID happen.)

To come up with some random theory of potential bs, and ignoring allegations of him being celebate, let's say he impregnated a woman BEFORE his suggested destruction. That way, after being born, the kid could've randomly been warped back to 12,000 B.C., bringing things together.

... Yeah, I know. I got nothin'.

hmm.  I was always pretty partial to the theory that the Zeal family are the descendants of the Iubarians.

---

Someone mentioned that the Ioka would have eventually come in contact with the Frozen Flame for the Earthbounds in 12,000 BC to "not talk like Ayla."  I wouldn't necessarily agree with that since the Reptites evolved on their own just fine, and the Ioka DID have several million years to evolve into the Earthbound tribe...

However it could be possible that the Ioka turned to Zeal and the Iuba turned to Earthbound; I suppose that could have happened just as easily.

---

But yes...the bloodline.  I believe that whomever was the Ayla/Kino descendant in 12000 may have found the pendant from the ruins of the Oceanpalace...  That pendant was made from the red rock, the dream stone, the same material as the frozen flame, perhaps?  In CT they mention that the red rock has the power to transform a human when in contact with that human.

Say the pendant has but a small amount of power left within it.  Whomever picked that pendant up may have been transformed, and perhaps into a charismatic leader, hence the start of the Guardia line....?  Seeing that the pendant played such a part in the leader's life, it may have become an important heirloom.  It was very important to Marle, afterall.

There is no way the pendant was found in the ruins of the Ocean Palace. Most likely it stayed with Schala since in the original timeline she wasn't sent to teh DBT with the Mammon Machine.

I doubt the pendant had any power left. If you remember Schala uses the last of the pendants power to save the group. In the original timeline, Schala most likely saved herself and the Queen again using the last of the pendants power.

Plus Dreamstone doesn't seem to have evolutionary power. It just conducts energy.

Yeah the Frozen Flame is for evolution, Dreamstone is just a really cool weapon making thing.

Okay I'm confused now, haha.  I though the frozen flame was basically a big chunk that fell off of Lavos?  Isn't dreamstone the same stuff, or am I completely mistaken on this one? :D

Dreamstones are naturally occuring rocks of power, that somehow resonates with Lavos' energy (if I'm not mistaken.) The Frozen Flame is a piece of Lavos. They are both red and semi transparent, but they are different... supposedly. I'd like to think of them as the same thing, only that the Frozen Flame is a special Dreamstone that is somehow linked with Lavos.

Well Dreamstone existed pre-Lavos... Lavos came in the "late" part of 65 mil BC.  You got Dreamstone at the "early" part of 65 mil BC.

The Frozen Flame may have been composed of Dreamstone, but the Red Rock was simply a mineral that existed on earth prior to Lavos's arrival in 65 million BC.  Meaning, the Dreamstone didn't originate from Lavos.
