I can't believe your not suprised Z! You should see some of the poll results on Channel 9 here in Australia! Though Channel 9 is totally Liberal (aka Republican) and it's main demographic are probably skinheads.

Arg. That poll is counfounding two issues, but I think it's getting to the heart of one.

Look, I'm all for any given country managing it's own infrastructure (in fact, I think the government should do very little else, but that's another discussion), but given the choice between local organized crime and a well regarded international buisneuss running things, the choice should be pretty obvious.

Republicans are Liberal in Austraila?  They are conservative (or at least they used to be) here.

Its destrubing that they would rather the Mafia control them.  Plus, I think I about the only Republican out there who isn't agianst this deal.  Meh...

Yeah. On a two party level, there are the Liberals and the Labours. Pretty much, Liberal is Republican, Labour is Democrats. They both suck however.

It seems that the Australian political party situation is, at this level, completely analagous to that of the United States.

They actually asked that? Ugh, it just gets worse and worse. Even The Weather Channel has more hard news than CNN.

Long story short on this ports deal: Bush should have known better than to spend four years whipping the American people into a neverending state of terror and then expect the public to think rationally about letting a Middle Eastern corporation control ops at some of our major ports.
