Funny, there's only what, seven double techs in the entire game?  And of the five characters you listed, three of them are involved into Double-techs.

Leah and Draggy have one.
Mel and Kid have Double Take.
Neofeo and Turnip have one.

Leah isn't entirely useless even aside from the Double-Tech, in the sense that she adds somethign to the story.

I know Zeality will murder me in my sleep, but I find Pierre extremely useless. And annoying. But that's just me.

Sprigg was always the most useless for me. I use her to get like, six monsters added to the list at the Arena, just so I could recruit Janice. Never touched her again.

Sprigg is exactly the opposite: way too useful.  I hate playing with her because she is ridiculously cheap.  She starts with Lagoonate, which can deal like 100 damage with standard attacks at a point in the game when 100 for a critical is fairly rare.  Before fighting the Marbule Sage, she can already have Total Chaos, Witchetty, Taurminator, Cybot, Fossicker, Yellow Belly, Puffy, Gurgoyle, and possibly a Rockroach.  Most of those are even more powerful than Lagoonate.  After the Dead Sea, Sidesteppa shows up in the Bend of Time.  In the fight with Hell's Cook, Sprigg's attacks did 300 damage when not critical, and the "Jump Start" tech did 700 damage.  To compare, Lynx was dealing 300 on a critical with a Stone Swallow during the battle.

I'm sure most of the other characters' skills surpass her Dopplegangs on NG+ (the Mystic Knights definitely keep up), but for most of the game she is by far the strongest character.  Her only downfall is her low HP.

Story-wise she is pretty useless, but she definitely makes up for it in battle.

I've ALWAYS hated the "blue-magic" characters in games.  Quistis, Quina, (Hey... I JUST noticed this... more than a coincidence?) etc.  Blue Magic is not my thing, I'm not sure why.  Sprigg basically falls into that category, so I hate her.  I've used her once just to see what I'd be like to play as the Mystics, after that I've never touched her.

they could've done soo much more with the more involved/cooler/engaging characters for duel/triple techs

by my surprise as well, the characters I never touched were the ones that were involved with techs

a tech with ur "guide to Viper Manor" character would've been cool

I agree, I never use Blue Magic. I collect it in my completionistic perfectionist manner, but never use. Except Quistis' that automatically kills normal enemies (most) for levelling up. Oh yeah.

Blue Magic in theory is awesome, but I never use it, mainly because it fails half the time. But Quintus, yeah, she was good. Khimari was Ok too...sorta.

Actually I DID use Quina for certain bosses/enemies in my FF9 level one game.  She does help a lot with certain spells there.  OTHER than that, never use the damn stuff, except as mystic3eb pointed out, to truly complete the game as far as perfection goes.

This is an easy one.

Pip, Orlah, Pierre, Doc, Leah, (her alleged connection to Kino and Ayla is irrelevant to the story, and obviously thrown in as an afterthought homage to the two CT characters), Van, Mel, Irenes (her I could see as an NPC) Funguy, Skelly (again, make this one an NPC. The collect-the-bones bit could make a fun side-quest with a neat reward, though), Greco, Neofio, Turnip, Mojo, Draggy, Janice, Macha, Orcha, and Korcha.

And I never used blue magic either.  Never saw the point when black and white magic did the same thing only better, faster, and with fewer magic points.   Makes me wonder how the new Blue Mage job is going to fare in  the FF XI expansion pack.

orhla was ok . . . her moves were pretty cool, though i like to stick to the character plot scenarios in which u aquire the most important characters in the game

in my case, Serge(obviously), Kid(stuck up for me @ Cape Howl) and then the playable character paths to Viper Manor, Pierre

I thought pretty much every character except for the main ones that you have to get for the story was pretty useless.  You go out of your way to recruit these characters when you get plenty along the way to satisfy your needs.

I always used Fargo, and he used blue magic I believe.  He was a pretty strong fighter, plus his side story is kinda interesting.

Pierre is the true hero once you get his equipment and the Prop Sword. He's just awesome. Glenn, Serge, and Pierre is a pure physical powerhouse team.
