Should I finish this? (RD fanart)

Well, it was a sketch of Serge and Kid from RD, but I'm not sure it's up to standard. Hey, I tried; a sixteen year old can't be expected to have mastery at arts, especially one which has had no art education whatsoever. Man, I keep spewing out the excuses. But just so you know, and hold back the swell of criticism, and to lower expectations accordingly.

I tried to be as true to what I saw in the game as possible, but took a few creative liberties (namely, with Serge's hood...thing, which gave me no end of trouble). Oh, and I made it smaller to conform to ImageShack, because I don't like having to click on it to get the proper size. It's really faint, and that would be because I haven't finished yet. ^^

So, is it good enough to finish (as in darken, finalize lines, shade and/or color)? Or am I wasting my time?

Jeez, I didn't even finish Kid's hair....

Wow. That is actually quite good! You should post it on the Art Thread when you are done. It seems the thread is dying into Page 2ness...

Up to standard? No such thing. Hell, it's already good enough to go on the site (just show Zeality your final version).

As for art education: screw it. It's all about the love of creating stuff. It's all about putting in the time and effort.

Draw, erase, fix, draw some more. Do it until it's not fun anymore, then ink and color your best drawings until that's not fun anymore. Then go back to drawing.

If you don't like erasers, try using rubber kneaded erasers. They're gray, cost less than a dollar, and can be molded into any shape. They're much easier on your paper and don't leave a mess.

Then make a habit of erasing every mistake and fixing it. Don't be afraid to start over, either. I've gone through half a dozen drafts just to get a good drawing, and I should do it more often.

Learn to love the obsession!

Aww, thanks for the kind words. I'll try to finish it, then. I just hope I don't mess it up.

BTW, Ramsus, I can't see your pictures on the art thread; they show up as broken/missing image files.

I got sick of PHP, which I've always hated, so I killed my previous hosting account. Everything's backed up, but I'm not uploading anything again until I've put together a new site.

They were just sketches anyway. I think Zeality put them in the Fanart section.
