I don't get the idea...

It's a term that may or may not have been once used to proclaim an old King was dead and a new King had taken the throne. Hence "The King is dead! Long live the King!" is meant to convey both pieces of news as well as wish the new King good luck.

But in this case it may be that Ramen here is thinking of the old Chrono series as dead and a new one beginning, say a remake of Chrono Trigger, which is certainly possible if it is ported to DS. It would get a complete do-over much like Final Fantasy III did when it was ported to DS.

I say may or may not have been used because it might just be a term taken from fiction accidentely adopted by people as actual history, which is something that has happened often with many myths, particularly concerning the word fuck.

It's really just a catchprase I've heard. To be honest, the context has generally eluded me.

Basically Kyronea nailed my meaning, except for a few details. The Chrono series, as a game series developed and published by Square(enix) and sold for money is dead, or at least in a deep comma; but the compendium (& related efforts) are keeping it alive through fan projects, delving intoits secrets and mechanics, etc.

I'm afraid cupn00dles might still want to kill me for my blaspemous statement that Break is... unlikely.
