It wouldn't have mattered to me if I had known pre-play because 1) it's obvious that it will happen, 2) I wanted it to happen, and 3) if it didn't happen, I'd like FF7 that much less. An Aeris-amount of less liking, if you will.
I don't get it, what will happen? I've played ff7, and I still don't know what the hell's going on half the time.
2.) oh, Aerith dying: dude, that happens on disc 1. their still 2 other discs to go through. hardly knowledgable, and barely conductive to the plot. Aerith has more to do wtih advent children then 7.
3.) or whole argument about Aerith is like complaining about marle. esentually the same person with a more energenic appoarch.

Seriously, don't knock it till you try it. I hate the game cause its too similar to another game, not cause of Aerith

Wait, what? The very little of this reply that I could understand confused me...Are you pointing out something from my post (is that what your numbering means?)? Either way your #3 makes no sense at all...Expain or succumb to the ever burning hell-fire of a confused forum junkie (junkies are people too!).
easy: stop bitching, there's actually more to this game then aerith (not aeries) dying. It literally happens at the beginning of the game. hardly worth judging the whole game over. it actually is pretty fun, but i find it to be too clone-ish of ff6 to really enjoy.

Aerith dying may happen early, but it is integral to the plot. Or do you just phase out during Disk 2?

Ah, then you wouldn't have known that she's pretty much the only reason anybody lives.

Eh, she had a hand with Cloud specifically, but if it weren't for Aerith, everyone in Midgar would be dead.

Uh, I wasn't bitching though...I was just saying that knowing or not knowing that Aeris dies did not make or would not have made any difference in my enjoyment of the game. And, in fact, if she had not died I would have liked FF7 an Aeris-amount less since she would be in the game longer. I didn't say I judged the game solely on her death either...I judge the game on it's overall lackluster lens-flaredness...

>_>

But let's not get into that...

I hereby stricken myself from further talk of FF7's supposed greatness or lack thereof (in this thread)!

Random little side Final Fantasy question.

I didn't want to make a topic about it so I'll post it here.

I have at my disposal every Final Fantasy game from friends and emulators . . . 1 through 11 NOT including side games like Tactics.

Question before I start playing from the beginning, is there any real story correlation in which if I start playing say FFX off the bat, will I miss something from the previous series? Is it ok to skip around or will I miss something from the previous games . . . or in plain words, are they just follow ups and not official sequels in which you leave off with the same characters?

Each Final Fantasy with its own number is its own thing. You can play them in whatever order you like.

I just realized that I was "corrected" here...Well, for one, I called her Aeris, which I believe is her name in the NA release. I mean, that's like saying to someone, "No, Mash, not Sabin!" We should all know what we all are saying if the most commonly used English (what we're communicating in on these forums) name is used, so no correction is necessary.

As for the order of the FFs...I think that playing them in order isn't a bad idea. There will be plenty of little Easter eggs & the like throughout the games if you do it that way that you may not understand otherwise...Oh, and you should play Tactics because it's easily one of the best. I mean, how can you call it a side game in a series where the games have no solid correlation to one another besides their name?

Hear hear. That's a wee little peeve of mine. And nobody on this side of the water calls the Gurus Gosshu, Hosshu, and Bosshu either, now do they?

Just for the record, if you want to go with NA canon, then I should inform you the Square-Enix retconned it. Aerith is her official name in NA.

But whatever.

Not in terms of parallell dimensions, same timeline, reincarnations, but there is something to be gained from playing from the first to the last. For example, the evolution of the Moogles and the Chocobos, many cameos from many game- For example, FF III's (I think) Onion Knight makes an appearence in FF X as Lulu's Celestial Weapon, along with Moombas (FF VIII only creatures) and many other creatures. Also, many monsters tend to be in common with most of the games, like Malboros, Ochus, Iron Men, etc etc etc. Summons also come from many of the games. It's mostly just a matter of 'Oh, so this is a FF tradition'...
