Difficulty: Legendary

I would like to know what was the hardest game that you have ever played? What I mean is a game that made your eyes bleed because you would sit up all night playing and can't beat the Final Boss.  Games like that.  You can list more than one.

One of the hardest games that I have ever played was Ninja Gaiden for the NES.  The Final Boss was insane!  The reason it was so hard was because of three factors: 1: The platforming was difficult  2: Once you lost all of you lives, you had to start at the beginning of the level/game (cant remember).  3: The last boss was so hard and cheesy that it made me sick.  And if you died fighting the last boss, you had to start at the beginning of the level.

Donkey Kong 64, although not due to outright difficulty. I just hated looking in nooks and crannies of huge 3D worlds that felt far apart from the original DKC feel. Too many "accumulate 5 thousand bananas, oranges, crystal, blah, blah," and on, and on, and on. I never finished it.

I must not be much of a gamer. A few months ago, I was having trouble beating all of the metal gears near the end of Metal Gear Solid 2 in hard mode.

Then again, my days of going at a boss for hours on end have long since passed.

SaGa Frontier 2 has the most frigging hardcore final boss ever. I kept on using the most powerful quadra Techs on him on every turn, doing much more damage than I had ever done in the rest of the game, but the battle seems endless and I die from petrify or repeated attacks... I never finished the game because of that.

Of all the games I ever enjoyed playing, Gradius III in hard mode and F-Zero in expert mode were some of the hardest. I finally beat the former on emulator; but I've never even gotten to that damn master mode for the latter. Tetris is hard, too. It took me 327 years to get the cart circuits to start smoking. Then the game swore at me in digitized Russian, and reset itself. I shaved off my 80-foot beard and counted it as a win. ^_^

hardest boss I've fought so far was actually an NM in ff11. I didn't know I had to solo it, so I grabbed my ncp and took it on with the quickness. 25 rdm vs. lvl 30 nm with help from a lvl 30 ncp: and I won. just BARELY.

The Hard Modes on Mega Man Zero 1-3 are not misnamed. Great games though. I felt like I'd really accomplished something beating them on Hard. Xenosaga II I'm finding difficult as well, but that's more of the "enemies cheat/bad battle system" type hard rather than the "fair but requires skill" type of hard.

They were sorta hard, nothing too extreme.
In Ninja Gaiden for Xbox, the...whats her face...Rachels evil sister...well anyways, she was freaking hard. Last boss was a cinch. Beat it with only Talisman of Rebirth and nothing else :)

Radical_Dreamer's comment about MM Zero Series' Hard mode is no joke.  The first and second Megaman games were fairly hard to me because the first Megaman game I ever played was MM3, where you could slide, and you can't slide in MM1 or 2.  All the Megaman Xs are difficult to some degree, X1 - X5 fullfilingly so, and X6 and X7 have disapointingly artifical difficultness.  My first boss fight with Sigma in X1 holds a very special place in my heart, it took me quite a while to beat him.

Zelda 2 for the NES was difficult all around, in a sort of way where you stummble around dying until you find out what you're suppose to be doing to progress.

Soul Calibur III's AI might be the cheapest, most annoying fighter AI ever created.  I spent several hours trying to beat the final boss of the "create-a-character story mode" in SCIII and eventually did by repeatedly using the same cheap move that the AI had trouble dodging.  Unfulfilling but effective.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

In FF8 the Lionheart/Grim--- thingy, and that Thingy+Witch was pretty fucking hard...I needed to do the Do Selphies Slot - Eject CD Drive - Repeat Do Over - Choose the End cheat :)

I preferred using Zell's super combo.

But did Zell's super combo (I believe nicknamed Armaggeddon) instantly kill Ultimecia?

Street Fighter II TURBO...Set difficulty to all stars and you must not let anyone win a round on you. I accomplished this long ago with Guile or Ken. You get their ending, the long credits with the world warriors destroying boxes with their moves, the "You've Mastered insert Street Fighter character here!!" picture, and the group picture. Now, can someone say Sagat is a cheap little girl who stands in the corner throwing out Tigers and when you move in for an attack, executes his Tiger Uppercut...

Also aside from Street Fighter in SNES, I also had difficulty with the secret boss known as Lapis from Legend of Legaia atop Mt Letona. First it seals all your magic, it always gets the first turn and deals a total of 13 attacks that each take off over 1000 of your health. The max health you could ever have with LV.99 is 9999HP. If you win, you obtain a Devil's Medallion that berserks your character, so you have no control over him/her, that randomizes their arts over and over again. The process is random, so your character may only execute one move and stop, while one time one of my characters did about 30 arts moves that dealt over 40,000 damage :P
