While I think we all can agree that the quality of American voice actors can be better (especially when compared to the yesteryear of anime), the major problem is the fact that I'm a purist. You see, I don't understand how people can sit through an American version when their more or less just following an adaptation of the film...It can be quite rediculous to run the American dub and the Subtitles at the same time...Plus, the the Japanese voices normally more accurately fit the characters and their personalities.

But remember, as I said: I'm a purist and I understand that some people, however blinded I may think they are, don't believe the same way I do.

Basically, my answer to teh whole thread's question was: whoever they cast in the Japanese version will be fine, I'm sure...

That is the most blindest thing I've ever heard spoken. Also, it has little to do with the question at hand, unless you wanna go run off all he names of the japanese Va you want.

Frankly, you need to watch less anime, more cartoons. Our VAs ARE just as good, its roughly the same effect getting something american dubbed in japanese.

Anyways, now that we got that out of the way:

Robin williams, if he's in serious mode: nikki. if he's being an idiot: skelly, or Mojo.

Jade Empire VAs were pretty good, 'specially the one for Sir Roderick Ponce von Fontlebottom

I'm not knocking dubs, but to me subtitles are closer to the "real thing." Learning more about Japanese culture and ideas, both in their own context and with respect to mine, is a big reason I enjoy anime (and other Japanese entertainment media). In other words, subs add a dimension to my experience.

Subtitles are the best, but sometimes a good dub can be incredibly immersive, rather then reading subs. Again, Jade Empire is a brilliant showcase of this.

No, not until you play Jade Empire.
Really, if its going to be an animated movie, then you need Japanese VAs because then it will look more genuine to the art style. If its live action, then don't even bother, the movie will be shit.

alright this is based off a idea in another thread. What would the cast if cross and trigger sound like two you? who would make the prefect voices for each person? How did you come to this conculsion?
Ok, so you didn't, but what you said there was so confusing, you shouldn't be suprised at least one person was confused.
My bad.

I believe so. all I said was "who do you think sounds like certain characters, I never made mention of anything remotely related to a movie or any other form of media.

I never notice the subtitles anymore though...I mean, they don't get in the way of any understanding anymore or anything. I don't notice the words really...

So, then, I assume that this thread is also about discussing what this thread is about, right?

I was replying to whoever said that subtitles get in the way of...whatever...
