Lucca existence make's ZERO plot sense.
« on: May 22, 2006, 08:37:02 am »
okay, cross related, you can blame it on the time crash and all that, but Lucca's very existence in the game makes no sense for a couple of reasons:

1.) she managed to make techonology that can match Robo's. Proof: the baby robot in the end cutscene.

2.) She can actually FIX robo. granted, she made gato, but robo's suppose to be superior to gato, so how the hell did lucca know all of his layouts and curcuity without actually frying the poor bot?

3.)She can build self powered machines: dimension telepod, gato, the machine that crippled her mom, the sunstone extractor. Where does she get the power for this crap?! HOW DOES SHE KNOW HOW TO BUILD IT ALL!?

Modern day Einstein. She's more zealous about machines then Taban. After research she learned a bit about temporal activities and was able to constuct a Telepod. Later on, she bult a basic fighting robot called Gato. The mini-Robos should be not much different than Gato (They seem to work on steam or fuel, it seems). They can't talk or calculate. She just made Mini-Robos to remember her dear friend by. Now, note that in that world you have things like electric grids and water-pipes which are used as frequently as they are here, but without HALF the inventions. Now, obviously there's somewhat of an exaggaration-most of what she did was theories and basic machines, however her work was what led to The Mother Brain computer in the future.

Mother Brain would have been invented regardless of her time travelling, unless she was destined to invent it without going into the future anyway.
Though, if that was true, and she went into the future and ended up seeing her own invention before she made it, it kind of reflects back onto the point that she created that circuit board that would prevent the Mother Brain computers from going rouge. The paradox here is that since she went to the future, and saw them, if she didn't make them in the past, then how would they exist in the future? But thats only if Lucca did make them.

Anyway, Lucca, as Legend_of_the_Past stated, is like a modern Einstein. She is probably the brainiest person of her time. It didn't just take her a moment to get the telepod to work. She had to work heavily on it, till she found the gate key part on the back of the machine. Crono could have been in 600AD for days. Well, 3 days in fact. And Robo's fixing took hours too, maybe a day. Also, if you check out Robo's art, his chassi isn't more advanced than Gato's.

EDIT:

Also, Lucca didn't create that machine that took her mothers legs. She was only like 5 at the time. Taban made it. Lucca didn't know anything about machines back then, and her ignorance caused her mother to lose her legs. Since that day, she dedicated her life to studying and understanding machines so that they could not hurt humans.

Also, Lucca is relevant to CC since she found Kid, created the Prometheius Ciruit Board (not the actual circuit inside FATE), wrote that letter that was supposed to introduce Janus, was kidnapped by Lynx which set of Kid's plot and did all this other stuff.

What if she made the original Mother Brain system, but her trip to the future was what actually made her add measures to prevent the system from going rogue?

Legend and Zaperking have already answered, but I'm gonna add a few personal opinion:

1.) she managed to make techonology that can match Robo's. Proof: the baby robot in the end cutscene.
This ain't a proof. As said above, this mini-robot is closer to Gato than Robo. You have no proof that it "can match Robo".

2.) She can actually FIX robo. granted, she made gato, but robo's suppose to be superior to gato, so how the hell did lucca know all of his layouts and curcuity without actually frying the poor bot?
How do you know she knows all of his layouts and circuitry? Robo wasn't damaged much, just deactivated, so Lucca was able to fix the few stuff and activate him. Now when Robo pwnd Atropos, she was so much beaten that in that case Lucca couldn't fix her.

Also, who knows, maybe Robo is deactivated not because of the Day of Lavos but because the R Series deactivated him themselves when they rebelled against the humans...

3.)She can build self powered machines: dimension telepod, gato, the machine that crippled her mom, the sunstone extractor. Where does she get the power for this crap?! HOW DOES SHE KNOW HOW TO BUILD IT ALL!?
As already said, there are radio tuners and fridges in 1,000 AD... and there's no power station visible anywhere! They even have photos in 600 AD (the Naga-ette "bromide" and the royal photo album, although the first is just for humour and the second is in a NG+ ending)... Also, there are humans in 65,000,000 BC together with the dinosaurs and winged apes... you get the point ;)

Lucca is the Reed Richards of the Chrono Series.  If her talents seem unreasonable, keep in mind it is a fantasy.

more then likely, she's basically bulma from DBZ: waaaaayy to advance to be included into the series.

Wait...a bromide isn't a picture...and, wait again...the word wasn't "bromide"...

You know if she was fixxing robo, she probably got to look inside of the circuitry and understand the basics of it.  And plagarizing is not hard.

Maybe just a couple of leads were damaged, and it takes no genius to fix leads on a circuit board.  Plus maybe she did fry him on accident, but they werent permanently damaging... She probably has enough common sense not to completely kill Robo.

okay looking at something and understanding it are too different things: that still doesn't explain how she built gato's crazy ass.

Look, the problem with uber minds is this: even if she could figure the theorum, she still NEEDS techonology to make techonology. you don't build cuircut board out of sand, nor can you fully develop robotics without a general understanding of energy, movement, and motorizations. she would have to have built modern tech to build her tech.

Even the brightest minds of the time are limited by what others knew: lucca is either omnipotent, or REEALLY poorly written.

I mean, she understands quantum physics when people her day and age still believe most things were caused by monsters or magic (though not always false. >.>)

She's one of the biggest reasons I prefer cross of trigger: luccia was a biochemist, not that far from alchemist who could exist. She had a more simple science to her, and was therefore more logical.

Remind me again what caused most things?

(Here's a hint: Monsters and Magic)

Not always false? Try: Almost never false.

what about mother brain, fate, jonny, the arris dome, the truce dome, the guard system, the mutants: those were all science.

Again, there are radio posts in nearly every house in 1,000 AD.  Radio transmissions and circuit boards are already known in that era. Lucca's SightScope also has some sort of antenna.

They even have photos in 600 AD (the Naga-ette "bromide" and the royal photo album, although the first is just for humour and the second is in a NG+ ending)...

Mmh... there was a discussion about it, and yeah it's not really a photo. http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php?topic=2367.msg43593#msg43593
