Zeal is complete and there is no mention of hair dye.

 [Young Woman]
Beings that are born of dreams, must
   return to them...

The power of Lavos can make hopes
   and dreams come true...

 [Young Woman]
Born of dreams, returning to dreams...…
Beings such as that exist as well.

At times, human prayers and desires borrow
the power of Lavos-sama and materialize.

~

Looks like that just explained the existence of Masa, Mune, and Turnip. This Zeal woman argues that dreams can materialize...what do you guys think? This adds another dimension to the Masamune's corruption, and sort of makes a metaphysical point for the Chrono series...the planet dreamed of Gates, too.

Schala is noted as being the only one capable of controlling the Mammon Machine aside from the three Gurus. By extension, Janus could probably have controlled it, since he is stated to be more powerful than his sister. This tidbit also suggests that Schala was more powerful than Queen Zeal. At any rate, this was left out of the translation.

 [Young Woman]
Magic strong enough to control the
extraction of energy, is needed to
   control the Mammon Machine.

~

 [Young Woman]
To control the Demon machine, you need strong
enough magical power to be able to regulate the
   energy it draws out.

Now, the only one outside of the Three Sages who
can handle the Demon Machine is Sara-sama.

ALFADOR

His Japanese name seems to be Alphard, the brightest star in the constellation Hydra. The name comes from Arabic and translates to “solitary one”. This is appropriate for Janus.

So if there is no hair-dye, what then are we to make of a blonde Schala clone?

There is still the possibility of the hair dye being mentioned only in the Japanese PSX version. We know for a fact that some things were altered, like Shitake being corrected to Shiitake, and even random stuff like the music note character being changed to 2 music notes beamed together... If this hair dye quote is just one little sentence in the middle of the adventure, this could easily have been overlooked for years since the release of the port, especially if only the Japanese material has the information (like the identity of the married person in the CC ending photograph).

Apparently, she's summarizing the central theme of the entire series, like the Lucca ghost and Schala in CC.

I'm going through Ms. Kotoi's site with a machine translator. Specifically, I'm going through the bulletin board archives.
I found this:
Quote
It's part of a post about differences between SFC version and the PS version.
Machine translation produces:
Quote
After the dream appearing of the black, lines of [taban] with the ending at the time of [kurono] revival modify.
SFC edition “[kurono]. You are the fullest capacity doing. Therefore today hero what!
PS edition “[kurono]. You to be quick are accustomed to the adult.

Millennial Fair moonlight parade ending

That line in the USA version is "TABAN: Crono, have a sip!  You're the Hero today" (the textbox before that is talking about the lemonade/alcohol)

edit: Any other differences listed on that site?

Only other text change I've seen mentioned by people in those logs is the change of references to Super Famicom button colors being changed to Playstation buttons. At least that's what I think it means from the machine translation. Doesn't sound like the people there noticed anything really significant.

That's interesting actually... Instead of referring to Crono as a "hero", Taban says something completely different (possibly referring to Crono growing up and becoming an adult or something). Could this be an attempt at toning down the enthusiasm of the CT ending in order to prepare the players for the Fall of Guardia, Crono's possible fall, and Chrono Cross?

In any case, this is a proof that Square did change some texts. Even with our SNES retranslation, we will unfortunately still not be able to claim for sure that there's no hair-dye quote lurking somewhere in the PSX Japanese version.

Now that I notice it, Taban has two different lines, and the one that gets used depends on whether Crono was revived or not.  Even though the original Japanese post above mentions Crono twice and the Crono version of the ending, I'm wondering if the poster didn't know about that and made a mistake...

You'll need your Windows XP installation disk. With that, you can install support for aditional alphabets from the Control Panel.
