A Wikipedia Article, Anyone?
« on: June 03, 2006, 07:57:03 am »
When are we going to actually make an article of ourselves Chrono Compendium on Wikipedia? We are quoted many times on the Chrono Trigger article, and we (and we all know this) have nothing else to do, so we might as well.

When we have millions of users visiting and using the site each week, you can start throwing that idea out there. Until then, it's not even on the table for discussion.

I think "millions" is setting the bar too high. In my opinion, the Compendium already has enough traffic to warrant its own little page on Wikipedia; goodness knows we've all seen some much more obscure stuff there.

For what purpose? So that the people who search "Chrono Compendium" can know what they already should know full-well, that the Chrono Compendium is about the Chrono games? Unnecessary.

Much of our traffic comes from Wikipedia. That implies, among other things, that a Chrono Compendium page on Wikipedia would only add to that number. More to the point, an encyclopedia's purpose is essentially referential, and I think the Compendium is worthy of being referenced.

I originally found this site while stumbling across wikipedia...  it was in the external links of some page.  I see no reason not to make a wiki about the Compendium.

There isn't any real problem with it. I say go for it . . . does it need approval?

I found this site originally off of gamefaqs from Zeality's profile I think. I now have a Chrono Compendium link in almost all my sigatures.

Consider it a possible chance to expand more on the compendium.

Ah, so. That's the end of the discussion, then.

Not exactly. Ramsus owns the site, and could be completely credited with it. But aside from that issue, I don't think we'll make it on. Someone will probably come along and swiftly delete it for being "non-notable."

Isn't the whole point of using a handle like Zeality to keep some level of anonymity? And don't credit me for the site just because it's convenient.

My name used to be up somewhere with ZeaLitY, so if someone added it, and if the article were accepted, there would be no erasing it. Wikipedia warns that a vanity page can't be taken back if it is deemed truly encyclopedic.
