Nu question
« on: June 11, 2006, 02:04:19 pm »
I've been gathering thoughts of the off chance of a new Chrono game in the future about the plot beng something of a journey to stop the Nu's. You fill in the blanks, the Nu's go "bad" and begin their other purpose of life. It would be a band of new heroes or past heroes to seek out and eliminate all the Nu's to prevent the planets destruction, though the fate of the planet may yet already be inevitable.

I read some of the Nu articles in the encyclopedia, yet I wondered...

If all life ends with Nu, is the Nu a trigger/key to the destruction of everything on Earth? If so, do you think the next Chrono game might be based off the fact of the mysterious Nu's reapearace? - In which a new band of heroes get together to stop it... (In most RPGs, you do have to save the world from destruction almost all the time)

In many RPGs, you also have to stop an assorted set of deluded villains from trying to achieve immortality. The idea that Nu is the end of life as well as the beginning of it, is simply an affirmation of our own nature. It's like what Magus said atop the Black Omen to Zeal: Nothing can live forever. The Nu therefore signify represent mortality, not destruction.

I think trying to form the basis for a sequel plotline around the Nu would be reaching, especially looking at what you've come up with so far. But keep at it; maybe inspiration will strike.

Agreed.

If Nu's could be "programmed", perhaps they had a previous entry coded by some other person from say Zeal, that will activate on a certain date, hence a possible new plot to the next Chrono game.

It's a good idea in my onion but the Nu's like the one in the Hunting Grounds can't do much more than to reduce your HP to 1

The Hunting Range Nu can't kill you. His AI is set up so that he only uses the HP to 1 Headbutt, and never will use the 1 damage Headbutt.

Nus can't kill, they're programmed to serve!!! :p Anyways, do you think nus might only be something like, say, the Enitity's watchers? You know, they might just be there to check everything is running smoothly...

Possibly.

If all life begins and ends with Nu, then the end would consist of Nu terminating the world or killing its species or vise versa or something along that line...
