Could the Apes Evolve without the Frozen Flame?
« on: July 08, 2006, 02:35:30 am »
I'm not sure if this belongs here but I was just thinking if Lavos had never landed and the Reptites died off(or never existed), could the apes(humans)' brains evolve without coming in contact with Lavos' shell?

The apes could evolve into man but in a slower pace. Don't forget that the Frozen Flame speeds up evolution to all creatures on Earth.  This makes sense if you know Darwin's Evolution Theory.

Had the reptites not died, Humans would have died.

Had the reptites been wiped off without Lavos' intervention, I'd say that humans would have evolved much slower.
But just listen.

Humans would not have had the power to use magic. Humans were already behind the reptites in evolution.
But I still believe that it's possible that they may have one day found the sunstone and used it's power, but more in the sence of how mako is used in FF7.
I doubt they'd be able to use elements, since the elements were developed by the dragonians because them and the planet had gotten so close to eachother, and they even made a biological dragon incarnation of the planets power.

It's not directly stated, but I always thought the Demi-Humans in Chrono Cross were like "cousins" of the human species from the Reptite Dimension. Lavos doesn't fall, the Reptites defeat the humans, but some few related species (like the winged apes seen in CT maybe?) survive and continue to evolve. Since they're not corrupted by Lavos they're closer to animals, lions, insects, etc. and not "full" humans.

It's just a theory, but I think it makes more sense than the theory which propose that Demi-Humans are Humans-Dragonians hybrids (how can a primate and a reptile give birth to a lion or a dwarf?).

Demi-Human's may just be cousins of the mystics.
They can be related to dragonians, since most demi-humans have a head, a tail and a body, like all dragonians.

Well the reptites and other living fossils did survive the Dark Ages and spawned several new species like the mystics and the creatures in Giant's Claw.

There's no evidence that Mystics are descendants of the Reptites. Kilwalas were already present on the Mystic Mountains in the Prehistory. And the creatures in Giant's Claw are all reptilian.

I really think it's too illogical for the Demi-Humans to be related to Dragonians. Humans and Dragonians are nothing like lions, ants, dwarves, mermaids, fairies, etc. We don't even know if a cross between the 2 species is biologically and socially possible... they did try to slaughter each other in a deadly war, and the goddess of the humans humiliated the god of the dragonians.

And tails don't count. Dwarves and fairies don't have tail... and cats do.

Not only are the Demi-Humans too different from humans and Dragonians, but they are also too diverse. I think it's clear that Demi-Humans are not a single species but just a collective name for people who aren't humans, Dragonians, or unintelligent monsters.

There's several "main" groups of Demi-Humans in Chrono Cross. You have the Marbule group, which contains mermaids, ants, old men with wings coming out of their head, cat people, and seahorse type creatures (Bro and Kid Bro). You also have the Guldove group, which seems to embody the same set of people, along with humans. The Dwarves are another group, along with the Fairies. I feel that the Marbule and Guldove groups are descendants of the Mystics and have interbred with humans over the years. Dwarves and Fairies were brought into play by FATE to prevent or facilitate certain historical events.

Demi-humans could also be a creation of FATE. FATE did transform Wazuki into Lynx. Why she created demi-humans is beyond me.. perhaps these are the original workers from Chronopolis who have undergone various transformations?

For the record, there are a couple Demi-Human ghosts working in Chronopolis.

None of the ghosts in Chronopolis have a definable shape, just a head with two arms and two legs. Basically a Geos that was changed to black instead of yellow/orange. As far as I can recall, there are no demi-humans (and technically, no humans) working in Chronopolis.

Yes, there's no Demi-Human in Chronopolis. One ghost mentions he comes from Medina... but if Masato Kato wanted to hint something to us with this quote, then I guess he failed... because we don't know if this means that this ghost was a Mystic or if this means the humans have conquered Medina in the future :/

Humans still resided in Medina. After you change the timeline and make the Mystics friendly, trade opens up. In the future, people might have migrated there and started living there. After all, when Japan opened trade with the US, Americans started living over there when none lived there before.

On the original subject, I would say yes.  I consider Ayla to be human, and she was pre-frozen flame.  IMO, I think the most the frozen flame did for humans was the ability to use magic, and increased brain size.

Reptites were not ahead of humans in evolution.  They were ahead in numbers and in power.  Humans in prehistoric times were more adaptable to the climate, and climate changes.  Reptites were not, as they all died either from Lavos crashing, or the Ice Age.  Reptites would have forcefully exterminated the humans.

There was already a quote or something similar that said that the apes appeared out of nowhere whilst the reptites were already far ahead of them. Basically, first they were int rees, then magically they stepped down.

Ayla is retarded. Game evidence = FF did it's job, humans are a mutation. There's a reason for their brain development making the humans have such higher technology.

Ayla isn't retarded, Zaper. She doesn't know quantom physics because Quantom physics weren't invented yet. She doesn't speak proper english because grammer rules were not yet defined. The Frozen Flame did it's job and humans got a bigger brain, but bigger brain doesn't mean a dog would become as smart as Einstein. The techonological and architectual acheivments were obvious with the Reptiets- They bulilt a fortress complete with a switch system and traps.  The Human mutation comes in the form of Magic, nothing else.
