how to know your dealing with a dumbass
« on: July 24, 2006, 01:48:11 am »
okay, far be it from me to make fun of an asshole. Cause lord knows I have the mouth of several dozen quick witted rodney dangerfield wannabes. (literally, try me some time, I can out insult damn near anybody.)

But this is one time I was throughly pissed off at a man's ignorance. I was talking to my Ex-LS flames of Sp when I got into a discussion about astral logical bodies. There's one person named limitlesson whom everybody on the ls respected, save me, and that's because I don't respect anybody, anytime, who hasn't earned it from me. (I've got a few names, but lets not get into that.)

This is the conversation that followed.
Quote
grey_the_angel: Black holes can infact be seen with a telescope, and they've been denoted into several different sizes and shapes: a rotation black hole, a supermassive black hole, and a stationary black hoe. The only possible black hole to get into is a supermassive black hole, in which the surface area of the black hole is so massive, you don't actually get affected by the event horizon till well without the black hole itself. The thing your thinking of is a wormhole, wwwyy[zzrrddd]; a tear in timespace.

limitlession all blackholes are supermassive.

grey_the_angel: no. only some blackholes are.

limitlession: and you can't see a black hole from space, its just darkness out there that doesn't produce anything.

grey_the_angel: no. its a gravity pit and can be seen by the fluction of starlight around it. and all black holes emit radition.

limitlession: so you can only see it with one of those weird telescopes in that show everything in odd colors anyway. Just like everything they found in space.
Its at this point you can tell he's become an idiot.

Quote
limitlession: Maybe we should worry more about Aids before we get into space. Like I dunno, make a vaccine or something.
now, if you followed medical news, you'd know that they did, infact, make a somewhat sucessful vaccine: it hd an 80% success in non causian people. (blacks, asains and latino's specifically.)

oddly enough, that rate dropped to 20% precent in causians people. (not making this up, though my figure might be wrong by some precent.)

you would also know that their have been recorded instance of people delevoping immunity to the HIV virus in african, where the infection rate is 50% (the most wide spread.)
Quote
grey_the_angel: they did. It just doesn't work on white people. We've always started become immune to the virus.

Limitlession: LOL Doesn't work on White people?
limitlession:I'm sure because everywhere I look
limitlession: I see people okay and living happily with the aids.
limitlession: yeah sure. Their immune to it. There's no problem.

I had enough at this point of the man's ignorance, and prompt said my kicked out phrase:

Quote
grey_the_angel: GOD DAMN LIMIT SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU MORON.  IF YOU WANNA BE IGNORANT FINE BUT DON'T FUCKING MAKE OF PEOPLE WHO KNOW BETTER YOU RETARD.

When the person in question can't spell "you're".  Or "astrological".

Aww, but grammatical/spelling nitpicking is so below the belt.

Unless the person is just so damn awful you can't read what they're saying at all... then it might be a point to consider...

How does difference in skin colour affect the vaccine? And is that vaccine really that successful? If it was, I think it would not just be in the news, it'd be up on billboards every fucking day.

dunno, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to work on white people >.> since its non sucessful in all cases, nor is it explainable why the vaccine is race affected, it was only shown as a medical report on the news as the odd cure. it won't make public rotation till it works on every case with a high sucess rate.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/21/AR2006052100960_3.html

The skin color is just the obvious part - what probably affects the vaccine if they were even on to anything in the first place would be the geneological differences between races.

For the most part, many people wrote off the results as unsuccessful, and did not want to waste money on further tests to see whether the guy might've been on to something, assuming that he was simply trying to grasp for anything useful from his years of research, unwilling to admit that they spent so long going in the wrong direction.

As someone who is no stranger to thinking highly of himself, I think you've got a bit of an ego problem, grey. Your final response there was just silly. You had more of the facts on your side than he did on his, but instead of driving it home you went and blew your cred. This is a common theme in your posts around here.

Take it down a notch or two. If you don't deserve to win, you shouldn't try. I think "dumbass" can fairly apply to people who fight arguments simply to win them and look impressive.

I'm curious to know how in the hell you got into discussion about astrological bodies anyway.

We were talking about space travel, and someone said "maybe we can jump across a black holes."

No. Take a gas cap pouring funnel or the upper end of an F-1 tornado funnel cloud for example. From end to end in the circular radius of either example is the event horizon. There is no bend in the event horizon like looking into a gradulated cylinder finding the meniscus. The event horizon is a straight point of no return, a wall that you cannot see that is actually there.

Also, unless you have a spectral telescope, you can't see anything.

Well Sagittarius A is the most common super massive blackhole we know of. Sure there are more out there, but this baby is the closest. Almost 3 million times the mass of our sun > > just a little fun fact.

no. its a gravity pit and can be seen by the fluction of starlight around it. and all black holes emit radition.

Only some blackholes give off radiation. The aren't emitted internally as well. However, when near binary stars (1 star orbits another) it takes the gas from one of the stars. The gas then falls violently toward the blackhole. Then friction between the gas atoms heats the gas near the event horizon to several million degrees. The energy radiates from the gas as X-rays. This is the only way to tell if a blackhole exists. Blackholes also give off both red and blue shifts just to clarfiy. Another way to "find" a blackhole consists of monitoring star behavior near galactic cores. Or you can go with the classic way of having a blackhole move in front of a bright object or planet.

You cannot under any circumstance see "fluction" of starlight around a blackhole. I don't know where you obtained that information, but it's false.

Be careful who you denote the term "dumbass" to...

EDIT: Fun fact

You could have just said magnificent. You didn't have to go throught all that it just makes you sound you got deep loving feelings for him.(No affence) But he still looks like a wanna be know it all. Altho he is but still.
