Alice Shannon can piss off. I have the same rights to be an American citizen as she does. I do not have to believe in anything that I choose not to believe in. Furthermore, the prayer we want taken out is not privately led prayer but state mandated prayer which would most certainly be a violation of First Amendment rights.
I shall now quote the First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. NOWHERE does it say that we "must" believe. Nowhere does it state that we are "required" to believe in a fictional entity from a two thousand year old book of fairy tales and fables. NOWHERE does it say that atheism is banned. It simply states that the free exercise thereof cannot be prohibited. That can easily be interpreted to include a LACK of religious belief.
So, Ms/Mrs Shannon, kindly read the Constitution again before telling me to get out of my country. I was born here. I plan on joining the US military, and I do not appreciate in the least the actions of people like you who would have me tossed out simply because I choose not to believe in what I perceive as nothing more but myths and fictional entities created by people who need to find some comfort in their lives.
