Believe me, I was never a Hillary supporter until I attended one of her early rallies when she was still "testing the waters" back in '06. Everything she said resonated with this disgruntled Ohioan, mostly because she focused on economic issues. I guess seeing the candidate in person sometimes leaves a much more lasting impression on a voter than seeing that candidate on TV. But I must say, I've been disappointed with Senator Clinton's debate performances and public speaking of late; in my mind, she hasn't yet matched the incredible speech she gave that one October day in a school gymnasium somewhere in the bowels of Ohio.
In retrospect, the Clinton years are pleasantly nostalgic for me. I miss the days when the federal government was running a budget surplus, when Madeleine Albright could handle North Korea single-handedly and sans cowboy diplomacy, and the Lewinsky affair was the talk of the day and not pre-emptive warfare.
To be fair, Obama
is flat-out awesome in every respect except his relative lack of experience in national government. I will be proud to campaign for him if he gets the nomination.
In any case, the cynic in me says everyone's been infiltrated by special interests with the exception of Dennis Kucinich, because nobody wants to associate with the candidate who stepped off a UFO.
I actually happen to be most in line with Mr. Kucinich on most issues. One of those presidential-compatibility sites told me so.
