Dan, just stop digging your grave. We have the best guys on the forum on it. You're making it sound like Japanese translations can be done in an afternoon. It can't. Not a quality job anyway.

Perhaps the phrase "Cut your losses" is more familiar to you. He's saying to just let things be on this topic.

I'm going to change the subject a little bit, if I may. Here is King Zeal's entry in Encyclopedia Chronotica:

http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/King_Zeal.html

Quote from: Encyclopedia Chronotica
King Zeal dies shortly before the events of Chrono Trigger; his death leaves Queen Zeal emotionally susceptible to the growing effects of Lavos's energy as channeled through the Mammon Machine. One of the most interesting enigmas of the series is the nature, appearance, and power of King Zeal.

I have a question about that: How do we know that King Zeal dies before the Mammon Machine becomes operational? As I interpret the script, it seems more likely that he died before the Mammon Machine was even designed, let alone energized and brought online. This would be important, because at issue is whether King Zeal had anything to do with, A) the initial conception of the Mammon Machine, and B) the Queen's rapid transformation once it came online. If he died before any of that happened, he's off a very big hook.

Agreed.

From what most of the game inplies, once the King died, and a mourning period or whatever, Zeal realized that she did not want to die, and literally changed her life overnight. Her new goal was immortality, and hence for Janus and Schala, they were not her first priority (that is why Janus says he used to like the old Zeal).

Also, I got the vibe that magic was either non-existant or very primative before King Zeal died. So once he died, Zeal invested everything into it's working. Sometime then, the mammon machine was created, and people could finally sleep in Einhasa, Kajar became more scientific etc.

My question would be now is when the pendant was carved. At the same time as the Mammon machine, or prior or later. I I think prior and then it was enfused with the Mammon Machines energy. But then again, evidence points to the Flame being inside the machine, so they could have accessed it to charge the pendant initially. Possibly, the FF was encased in dreamstone from the very beginning? Like when it landed, dreamstone grew over it or something.

Magic seems to have been around for a few thousand years in Zeal, atleast long enough to use up the Sun Stone and most of the world's Dreamstone or something, which I don't think can be done in a single person's lifetime. Zeal is too elaborate and powerful to be the work of one generation. The way the people of Zeal act, most if not all of them were born into high magical society and don't know any better.

I don't really think so. The whole Earthbound thing seems recent. I mean, Schala and Janus used to love their mother. But Schala, as also one of her reasons, doesn't like her now because Zeal does not treat the Earthbound ones as humans.

And what do the Earthbound ones have different to the enlightened ones? They do not have magic abilities.

A person like Zeal, I would not expect any lesser of her than to create Zeal in a matter of years. When you have such powerful people backing her up like the Guru's, anything can be accomplished.
Also, you can't really base the Sun stone on much. It may take a hell of a long time to charge, but that doesn't mean it can power something for thousands of years. I mean, it only hard enough energy in it to cerate the Wonder shot, and the rest of the stone was used in the Sun specs.

Also, since they knew about elements and had elemental weapons, I wouldn't think past them that they had very simple abilities with elements, but nether the less, once Zeal established magic or found a way to tap into it and teach others, then the split between Enlightened and Earthbound occured. Though later, I only think then did the Earthbound ones get condemed for not being able to use magic. By lowering them, it would have been a perfect excuse to use them as labor.
